An Open Letter To The Girl Who Should Walk Away

Sometimes you have to walk away from what you want to find what you deserve.

To the girl who needs to walk away,

You are a beautiful human who deserves the best. You are strong and you are capable of walking away. Don't fall for stupid mind games. Always remember that you deserve the best and only the best. Never let a guy tell you otherwise. Sometimes you have to walk away from what you want to find what you deserve.

If you find yourself being mistreated by a guy, throw up the peace signs. He is not worth your time or your effort. It won't be easy, but it is what needs to be done. It's okay to walk out of someone's life if you don't feel like you belong in it anymore.

No matter how badly someone treats you, never drop down to their level. Remain calm, stay strong and walk away. Be the bigger person and move on.

"Knowing when to walk away is wisdom. Being able to is courage. Walking away, with your head held high is dignity."

If your friends don't approve of him and your parents can't stand him, you should probably let him go. These people know you better than anyone else and they are just trying to look out for you.

Delete his number and ignore his texts. Delete him off social media if you need to. Do whatever is going to help you the most to move on. Go to your friends for support. They love you and want the best for you.

As one of my best friends once told me, you deserve to be treated like a princess. If he isn't going to treat you like a princess, he doesn't deserve to be in your kingdom.

Sometimes you have to walk away to find what you deserve. It's going to hurt. It will hurt a lot. Walk away because you're strong. You are stronger than you might ever think you are. It will be worth it in the end.

You deserve to be treated with love and respect. If he is not giving you love and respect, walk away. He is not worth your time or effort. Chances are, he will try to tell you everything that you want to hear. If other people are cautioning you to leave him, chances are, they are right. Sometimes it can be hard to tell when he is actually just really bad for you.

Never give up or lose faith in yourself. There really is somebody out there for everybody. It might take time to find your "soul mate", but it will happen. What's meant to be will always find its way. Everything truly happens for a reason.

After you walk away, focus on finding yourself. Discover a new passion and try new things. Don't be afraid to move on and talk to other guys. Moving on will be hard, but it is what you need to do. He will regret losing you one day. Never let one stupid guy ruin your life. He is not worth it. You deserve the best and only the best. Never forget it.

"Surrender to what is, let go of what was, and have faith in what will be."

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
