It is not selfish. People may think that everything is always about you. So let them. But you and I both know that is not the case here. You spend most of your time putting other people in front of you. You constantly are going out of your way to make someones happiness more important than your own. Stop doing that.
There is always this idea in your head that maybe you can fix someone or maybe if you spread a little bit of your sunshine into their world, things will change and it will all be worth the overbearing amount of time you took putting them ahead of you. But I am here to tell you that you're wrong and that you need to absolutely stop doing this. You're happiness and your health should be your main priority.

If this person is doing nothing but bringing you down with them in a sea of their own problems…then this is where i tell you to start swimming in the opposite direction because it is not your turn to drown with them. I am telling you to save yourself. Save yourself from the heartache that is unnecessary and save yourself from the pain you feel giving your all to someone who can’t even see their own potential.
It is time to put yourself first as selfish as it may seem. Go out there and take the world and make it your own and do it in a killer pair of heels just because you can. You should never, ever rely on someone else to find happiness. Go make it on your own and make it great while doing it. This is your chance to go and move to another city or maybe even go explore the world. Go on lots of dates, or go eat food you have never tried before. Just go do it because you can and no one is holding you back.
When you start putting yourself first and doing things for you and not for anyone else. That is when life starts to come together. That is when you realize what true happiness is and everything will fall into place.
