To The Girl I Thought I'd Be Best Friends With Forever

To My Former Best Friend,

Hello. It's me (no, not Adele, unfortunately), your former best friend. How has life been treating you? I hope you're en route to landing your dream job. I hope you have lots of new friends that don't cause you the drama we had. And I hope that you, personally, are doing well.

It's been a while since we've last spoken, I know. And l wish our friendship hadn't ended on such a sour note.

It's always awkward when my mom asks about you or asks why I never hang out with you anymore. It's always awkward when people who knew we were friends ask me about you and, well, I have to tell them, “Oh, we're not friends anymore."

All right, so this isn't a letter asking for us to become friends again, but more of a thank you so much for being a part of my life: for laughing with me over silly boys (and giving them code names), for eating way too much food with me and then complaining together about how much we hated our bodies. Thank you for taking serious, silly, and matching outfit pictures with me. And thank you for being the much more dedicated lab partner because I hated science and you loved it.

I know things didn't work out for us. We had to break up and throw in the friendship towel. We were both upset and it was just better that we called it quits. Just know that I still care about you, but I am respecting your decision to give each other space (but I'm still gonna stalk your social media every once in a while, because hey, I wanna know what you're up to in life!). We're not the silly girls we once were, we're mature young women — surprisingly, we're the adults we used to laugh at.

Sometimes I wish you were still a text away, but I've learned to live and be independent without always being attached to you at the hip and taking "twins" Instagram pics with you. I miss our boy banter, our life talks, and our miscellaneous bloopers. Secretly I hope that one day our paths will cross again and, well, maybe things could work out. But regardless of whether that happens or not, I hope you find a new best friend (or maybe you already have) with whom you'll have all the laughs and all the good times you had with me, minus all the drama. I hope she's your true sister from another mister, maid of honor and, most importantly, your true best friend forever.

Thank you for all the memories, for telling me the dress didn't make me look fat when it totally did, and for being my best girl for part of my life. I hope all is well. Stay as beautiful and hardworking as you've always been.

Sincerely,

Your Ex-Best Friend, Partner-in-Crime and Biggest Betch,

XOXO

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
