An Open Letter To The Friend That Never Judges Me
Heather Tyler

We all do things we aren’t always proud of just because we were in the moment or just trying to live life. We beat ourselves up about it, look at ourselves in the mirror disgusted, and tell ourselves we are bad people — all because we did things that society doesn't agree with or one small incident that went against our values.

Throughout that darkness, a light shines to let you know that there is nothing new under the sun and that everyone makes mistakes. That light is a glorious friend who's been there and done that, so she knows how you're a genuine person and how you should think the world of yourself.

Dear friend that understands my situation,

Thank you for not being like all those other so-called "friends," and admitting to your mistakes in order to make mine seem so small. You will never know how much you put my mind to rest.

Dear friend that never hesitates to tell me that I'm not as pathetic as I thought,

Thank you for clarifying to me that having fun is OK and looking stupid happens to the best of us. Sometimes my own dramatics get the best of me.

Dear friend that loves me for being me,

Thank you for being my light at the end of all of these dark tunnels and standing by my side when it felt like everyone had left. My heart needed you to tell me that I was going to be OK.

Dear friend that sits in the car with me and listens to me ugly cry,

Thank you for holding me, rubbing my back, and giving me your articles of clothing to wipe my tears and snot on. Sometimes, I just need to let it all out.

Dear friend that calls me when she knows just through text that my world is falling apart,

Thank you for seeing the situation from both sides and being a true friend in such a short amount of time.

Dear friend that cries more about my problems than I do myself,

I promise one day I'll be fine, you'll be fine, and for once things will go the right way and never turn left.

Dear friend that tells me I'm not as ugly and fat as I may think I am,

Thank you for complimenting me every day and assuring me that I'm pretty inside and out, despite what I feel or what people may make me feel. Self confidence has not always been my strong suit, thank you for reinforcing my weak spot.

Dear every friend who's always been there when I needed a shirt to clean my nose on,

From the bottom of my heart I promise you I'll try my best to always repay you with 100 percent of my dedication to our friendship. I'll have tons of articles of clothing for you to wipe your tears with, I'll call you a thousand times just to make sure your day is going the way the way you deserve it to, I'll be the brightest light imaginable at the end of your tunnel, and most of all I'll never forget to thank you for our friendship and how much you'll forever mean to me.

Thank you again.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
