Dear you,
Yes you. You who feels the need to be unnecessarily rude. You who decided that you are more entitled to freedom than anyone else.
Yes, I'm talking to you. The person who is bashing individuals who voted for a third party. Don't get me wrong, making the election a joke by voting for Harambe or Hennessy, that was wrong. But who are you to tell someone who to vote for? Who are you to tell someone that what they believe in? Who is anyone to tell a fellow individual that their belief is wrong?
Don't get too excited, fellow American. I'm talking to you too. You know, the person who discriminates against anyone who is different than yourself. You who disrespects your fellow person because they aren't quite the same as you. (news flash, we're all the same species).
And you, too. You, who forced people to fear for their lives- not just because they are a minority, or a female, but because they believe something different than you.
But mostly, us. We are all Americans. We are all people with our own brains, our own ideas, our own beliefs. How did we allow our country to become so divided? Since when was an election based on rumors over policy? Since when do we disown our friends just because they have a different view than us? Since when do we have the right to tell someone that their belief. We are lucky to live in America, where we are free. Some people will never have the freedoms that we do. However, right now, I have a hard time trying to be a proud American, and it's not because of the candidate chosen for office. It's about the people. And not just the people who believe that Trump will "Make America Great Again", but also the people who are "with her". And too, the people who voted for Harambe, the people who voted for Hennessy, and the people who voted for a third party. No one is in the right. Not a single person and that is because we are allowing our nation to be divided by are beliefs. America is kind of like a team, if you think about it. And there's no one person in the wrong on a team. Everyone has to work together. And allowing ourselves to be divided puts us all in the wrong.
So before you bash your fellow Americans, citizens, friends, on Facebook or Twitter, remember one thing. Yes, you have the right to your own opinion, but how you voice your opinion is equally as important. By spreading hate, you're dividing America.
love,
a concerned citizen
