An Open Letter to the DNC: Why We Are Bernie or Bust!
Usuncut.com

Dear Democratic National Committee,

My name is Diandre Miller. Originally, I planned on writing a letter to you about why Senator Clinton is unfit to be the democratic party nominee and why Bernie Sanders must be the democratic nominee. We believe in a social democratic system where EVERY voice is heard. Instead of my ranting on about all of the injustices that have gone on during the primary process, the purposely rigged system and why we will not vote for Hillary Clinton, I, unlike the supposed platform of the democratic party, want every voice to be heard. This is my way of including the voice of the people: I asked people to submit their “Bernie Moment” to me using the hashtag, #MyBernieMoment so it could be a part of this letter. In a period of 24 hours 300+ Bernie Moments were submitted. I’ve gotten so many responses that I couldn’t put them all in this letter. I will have to send out a second letter with their responses. First off, I want to make a few things clear. I am not a big name writer. I do not have money to spend on advertising. I do not have a large number of followers on social media, yet I’ve received so many responses because this resonates with a larger number of people. The comments in this article represents the sentiment of millions of people.

What are Bernie moments exactly? It was the moment that we the people realized we will no longer vote for the lesser of two evils. We will vote for someone who represents our ideals and will fight for us. It was the moment that we realized that our democracy is in grave danger. It represents a movement that has begun and will never die. And finally, it represents a revolution that that will extend far beyond our generation that will give us and our children a better life than we had growing up. The revolution will continue and will extend far beyond this election cycle.

It seems to me that the argument that democrats are making is “vote for Hillary because Donald Trump is scary.” That does NOT resonate with me, nor does it resonate with any true progressive in this country. If you do not want to risk a Trump presidency, do NOT nominate this sh***y, corrupt, candidate who is beholden to special interest, who in 2008 then Senator Obama said “She’ll say anything, and change nothing,” who has refused to release her transcripts to Goldman Sachs to create transparency (but claims she has nothing to hide), who is currently under FBI investigation and an audit by the State Department confirms she broke the law. We do not care that Hillary has the endorsement of President Barack Obama. We do not care that Hillary has the endorsement of Senator Elizabeth Warren. We remember you both criticizing Hillary's corrupt nature. Why would we vote for someone who you both have branded and rightfully so as corrupt?

The democratic and republican establishment alike, have done a superb job suppressing votes since the creation of the two parties. The establishment has done everything they can to destroy grass-root campaigns to suppress the will of the people. You have used technological advances to destroy the middle class, the working class and the poor. Today, we have used these technological advancements to become the research generation. We are no longer going to fall for the tricks and games of the establishment. We have the ability to research and each and every candidate to see if their ideals match ours. Hillary Clinton is not that candidate. Even her supporters don’t support her ideals. They are voting against their best interest. They want a woman president so badly that Clinton’s corruption doesn’t seem to matter. The media has made sure that most of America specifically older people is oblivious to it. Look we ALL want a woman president and are greatly overdue to have one but that woman is NOT Hillary Clinton. We don’t want any woman; we want the RIGHT woman to run this country.

Right now, the democratic party is in turmoil and is in danger of collapsing. Right now, 43 percent of the country are registered independents. 50 percent of new voters registered as independent. Millions of independents were excluded from the voting process because of the rigged system. Bernie Sanders by far wins over independents. That is the reason Bernie Sanders on average beats Donald Trump in the general election by 15 point. The last four polls of a general election match-up between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, Hillary is either tied or trailing Donald Trump. These independent voters that were excluded from voting in the primary process will NOT vote for Hillary in the general election. They will either vote for Jill Stein, write in Bernie and some will even vote for Donald Trump, the man who the democrats are supposedly afraid of. If the Democrats are so afraid of Donald Trump, then they will do the right thing and nominate Bernie Sanders as the party nominee instead of a person who has the highest unfavorable rating in Democratic party history.

If you do not make Bernie Sanders the party nominee, on Wednesday, July 29th, 2016, the final day of the convention; millions of people will leave the Democratic Party for good. If you want to proceed with Hillary Clinton as the party nominee, fine, but be prepared to deal with the consequences of that decision which would be: Donald Trump the 45th president of the United States of America. My voice alone means nothing, but over 300 voices in less than 24 hours without my having a big name, without having advertising money, without having a large social media presence, shows that the 300+ people who have reached out to me, represents millions of people. The many will always be greater than the few.

Our collective Bernie Moments doesn’t just represent why we are #StillSanders, it represents why we are #NeverHillary. Hillary Clinton and the democratic establishment is the antithesis of what we represent. Now without further ado, here are our Bernie Moments as told by the people. #MyBernieMoment

#MyBernieMoment- I am Bernie or Bust because Bernie Sanders stands for everything we need in this country. But what drew me to Bernie was the devotion and motivation he has in fixing our corrupt system. He has been fighting for years and years for before we knew about him. He is the most devoted and loving person I have ever met. I've never seen a person who is such a genuinely kind soul. He truly CARES about America. He truly cares about the people. He cares about us. I started doing my research on Bernie when I found out he wanted to make public college free and help to get rid of the vast amounts of debt we college students are in. I am a four year college graduate and I have $40,000 in debt and cannot find a job that pays much over minimum wage. I work three jobs, seven days a week NO DAYS OFF and I am still struggling to move out of my parent’s basement. I cannot afford to pay my student loans and actually survive in this country. WHILE WORKING OVER 65 hours a week with a degree. I am also a daycare worker and a substitute teacher. Bernie spoke about how children are not getting the education they deserve because we are not getting enough money in education for the basic training we need to educate these children. I am the ONLY daycare worker with a college degree. Everyone I work with cannot afford to get a college education to better their teaching skills. Every person I work with is living paycheck to paycheck trying to support a family while basically making minimum wage. TO WATCH/TEACH CHILDREN FOR 8 HOURS A DAY. I literally cry from how tired I am each day from working so much and so hard. For what? A paycheck that goes straight to college loans and bills? I have no free time to live my life because I am constantly working and I am ONLY 23 years old. I am burning myself out from working so hard while the 1 percent sits on their butts making billions from being corrupt liars. Literally I can go on for years about what I love about Bernie. But that was what truly drew me to Bernie and his campaign. I'll be honest about 7 months ago I had no idea who this guy was. Now I find myself not being able to make it through the day without bringing up Bernie at least 50 times. I want to spread his word to the world. I want people to open their eyes the way Bernie opened mine. I want people to understand the love and peace Bernie showed me. I want people to join with us on the revolution and make the changes we need to see happen in our country. I want to take on Wall Street. I want people to understand that the immigrants are not our issue, the 1 percent is. I want every single person to feel the Bern. I want Bernie Sanders as our President in 2016. And I will never stop Berning. Once my eyes have opened they will NEVER close again.

-Kristina Marie

#MyBernieMoment- Just when I thought this nation was screwed with the people running for president, I was introduced to Bernie Sanders. At first I was skeptical and I honestly only wanted to know about his ideas about immigration and what he wanted to do for our people. #‎MyBernieMomentwas when I realized he would be the only candidate to keep my family together as a whole. When I was younger, my dad was deported and my mom didn't have a job so all the family members we stayed with ultimately kicked us out. It was one of the toughest times of our lives even if it was the three of us sticking together. I can't imagine how my dad must've felt all alone, but if Bernie doesn't become president I may experience firsthand what my dad felt. #‎StillSanders#‎AlwaysSanders

#MyBernieMoment- My Bernie Moment was when I was watching a video of a man who was giving a campaign speech for the presidential race and two black lives matter activists came on stage and interrupted his speech. I remember being so surprised that he actually gave them the mic and stage. I immediately became interested in figuring out who this person was because everyone in the crowd and on stage were visibly annoyed and upset but this man simply folded his hands and stepped to the side, humbly. As I learned more about Bernie Sanders, the more Bernie moments I experienced. Many times I have been moved to tears by Bernie Sanders and what he stands for. I remember him not being afraid to say Sandra Bland's name during a debate and immediately falling in love with his determination for "just" justice. Bernie Sanders, through his resilience, kindness, and genuine concern and love for this country, has made a home in my heart that will always be dedicated to him. I will speak of his story and ideas to my children and grandchildren. Even if he doesn't win the presidency, he will always be a winner in my eyes and heart. Bernie Sanders stands up for those who cannot stand up for themselves and I will continue to stand up for him.

#MyBernieMoment- It's kind of hard to pick just one but I think I have something. I've known about Bernie for years, not a ton but I knew he was one of the only good politicians. I got involved with this campaign on day one when he decided to run because prior to that it was looking like Clinton against Bush and that didn't seem much fun. So I was all-in from the beginning but there was this day in Seattle where I knew I would do absolutely anything to help him. As a member of the media I get to do some cool stuff and when he came to Seattle last August I got a media credentials and a photo-pass. This was the event that got shut down by BLM but before that happened Bernie was hanging out in the press tent with us. He had no entourage (in fact I think he took a cab there) but what struck me about him was that as I followed him around with my camera he was much more focused on just regular people than he was the elite class that were also in the tent. When he talked to people he looked deeply into their eyes and he was really listening. So, I got to spend around an hour with him, watching Bernie be Bernie up close and personal and that's a day I won't soon forget. #MyBernieMoment- My Bernie moment was seeing him educate himself on Palestine (his earlier comments were extremely ignorant). I really appreciate seeing him actually listen to the people and educate himself before continuing speaking on it. I applauded him when he challenged Clinton on her same ignorant, unknowledgeable political stance on it. You rarely ever see a politician recognize their wrongs.

#MyBernieMoment- I was always there. Three years ago I posted this to Facebook: "I think one cannot understand how bipartisanship fails, or succeeds, or how it succeeds when it does, without realizing that income inequality and the need for large donations in the US means that a tiny handful of people who have much in common (and little in common with the vast majority) are the constituents of both parties. So when one sees enough consensus to actually legislate one is seeing a consensus among the few very wealthy. It is almost never represents a consensus among Americans in general. It's a consensus among the rich."

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
