Dear God: Thank You

Thank you, because I do not say it nearly enough.

Dear God: Thank You

Lord,

I know I don't do this enough. I forget to say thank you. I overlook your blessings and your continuous mercy, and take them for granted. It is my hope that I can pause from the life that constantly distracts me from You, and sit here in awe of your love, and simply say thank you.

There is nothing else I can say, other than thank you for forgiving me and loving me, despite my faults.

Shamefully, I sit here and realize I rarely come to you to thank you for another blessing, yet I constantly run to you to ask for something, out of self-seeking interests. Why have my priorities hindered my thankfulness? Why do I fill my life up with meaningless time-wasters instead of reflecting on Your Word and the work you have done in my life? For this, I am sorry.

Ashamed, I admit that I forget to say thank you. Every moment I am given, I am shown mercy. Every breath I take, I am to praise you and thank you for one more opportunity I am given to further your kingdom and show love. Lord, please help me to never overlook the beauty in each moment, for each one is a gift from You.

Thank you, Lord, for the miracles you have performed in my life. Whether it be sparing a loved one from a health crisis, or placing a spiritual mentor in my life, I cannot thank you enough. Thank you even when I fail, or I am facing thank you for saving me. Your work is evident in my life, and it is my hope that I will be thankful in all circumstances, whether it be a tribulation or joyous occasion.

You love me so much that you call me Yours. Thank you for loving me, despite me being a wretched sinner. Thank you for calling me beautiful. I do not deserve the love You show me each moment of each day. I am your child, and on days when there seems to be no hope, I can thank You for this. To be a child of the Lord is the most beautiful gift, and I ignorantly cast this aside most days. I am sorry.

This life is not mine, it is Yours. Thank you for this life, and give me the courage to follow You, and walk by faith. Confident in Christ, and in awe of your love.

Thank you for today. The sun is burning with radiance and the sky declares your art. Thank you for another chance to show love to others and bring glory to Your name.

It is my utmost hope that I will be able to see your blessings each day and each moment. May I always remain humbled and thankful for all you have done an continue to do in my life. May I always have faith in you, without doubts. May I refuse to allow school, relationships, or social media to distract me from You, Lord.

Thank you for loving me. Thank you, because I do not say it nearly enough.

Liz

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
