An Open Letter To People Who Are Always Stressed

Have you ever wanted to just go out and meet new people? Did you meet a cute girl/guy last night? Do I look good right now or should I change? There will forever be reoccurring questions that will float through every young individuals’ mind; even older mature adults think the way young college students do. Thinking and questioning everything makes life so much more stressful, but we have this idea that we have to think about things and ask about it to make sure our life is content.

Dear Thinkers,

First of all, take a deep breath, calm yourself down, and just smile. After reading this, maybe you will get some insight on how you really should see things, especially in a certain prospective. I just want to write about what we should really think about and what we really have control on in our lives.

If anything, please stop stressing out about things that aren’t in your control, let things play out as they should. I know this is cliché, but “there’s a plan for everyone” and I find it to be true because I believe in fate; as long as you play your cards right and not stress about things that you personally/physically can’t control, then everything will work out. Being stressed about things you can’t control just causes your body to grow gray/white hairs, irritates your skin, and changes how you personally think about decisions. So, your judgement can be completely opposite than it would normally, and this could be scary because you don’t know exactly what you have done until you acted upon an action, which at this point, it will be too late.

For all the things you can control, just remember you should always be confident and comfortable with your decision. My RA (Erin) told me one time when I was picking out an outfit for a date is that I should wear something that I felt comfortable and confident in, because those are two important things to always consider or you personally won’t be happy with the decision you have made. So I personally want to just share this important advice with everyone else in the world, because it’s true that if you don’t feel confident or comfortable with a decision you made, then you are causing troubles and stress upon yourself. You should never stress about a decision you made, because most of the time you can find a solution to your problems created or stimulated from the decision you acted upon.

Just remember that some things are not worth stressing about, because it usually just causes concerns and issues down the road eventually. I hope this Open Letter really helped you think about what really is important. I know it seems silly and it might not work but there are things in life calling your name; while you stress around about things and try to control everything, you are missing the bigger opportunities out there in this world calling your beautiful name. Don’t be afraid of the world, trust me it’s scary but you got every step of the way.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
