An Open Letter To Our RA

We don't know what we would do without you most days.

An Open Letter To Our RA

To Our Amazing RA,

All of us here on the floor can imagine that being a Resident's Assistant is not the easiest, most glamorous, or flexible job that you could have on campus. The process that you had to go through to become our RA was extensive. But you were determined, and even excited, to make the floor a home for all of us. You made it a place where we could come to develop close knit relationships, talk about everything from boys to final exams to Jesus, and have random spa nights. Being the broke college students that we are, there isn't really anything extravagant that we can do to thank you for all your thoughtfully planned out events, your caring attitude, and your constant smiles, so, here are a few reasons why we absolutely adore you....

"You are the cutest RA ever! You are so happy and genuine. You brighten up everyone's day."

"Your happiness is contagious! Thanks for always making me smile."

"You are such a great RA! You are always so encouraging and ready with a smile!"

"I hope you know how much we all appreciate and love you! I love how you make time for us with your busy schedule. You are appreciated and we would all be lost without you."

"You are the best RA because you care so much about us and you organize fun things for us to do as a floor like hall dinners, spa nights, etc."

"You are such a Godly woman and I am so thankful that you is our RA! I couldn't have made it these first few weeks without you. Love ya!"

"You always make a point to make sure we are doing okay, and you care about even the smallest things in our lives."

"You are the sweetest, most caring person, and you always have a smile on your face. You have made me feel so at home and loved here and I can't thank you enough. I am so glad that you are a part of our lives."

"I wish I had a sister like you. Thank you for taking up the responsibility of taking care of us."

"I wouldn't want any other 'mom'."

"No matter the time of day, or how much homework you have yourself, you are there for us. I truly think that you have a genuine heart and you are here to support and pray for us."

"I honestly don't think I would have made it past the first week without you. I was ready to drop out and you were just so sweet and supportive when I talked to you that I knew I could get this degree. Thank you."

"Thanks for being so welcoming to us in a time full of sadness and fear. I'm sure my freshman year would not be the same without you."

"I don't know how you do everything and are still so sweet. You are going to be the BEST teacher and God is going to use you to do great things. WE LOVE YOU!"

All in all, we think you're the bees knees and pretty much the greatest thing since sliced bread. We can't wait for your dreams to come true. We have so much faith in you. We are praying for you. We love you, RA.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
