An Open Letter To Our Mothers On Mother's Day
Charles Richard Joseph

Dear Mom,

Life would be so meaningless if you were not my mother. I can’t even begin to fathom the thought of not having you here on this beautiful earth with me. I could thank you for the memories all day long, because I know that without you, I would not be where I am today.

Growing up you held so many different job titles, whether you acted as a plumber, housekeeper, cook, accountant, etc. At the end of the day you were just simply being a mom, and I am so proud to call you mine. You set the standards for my life, and today I live peacefully knowing you will always have my back.

Adversity never broke the bond of our relationship. The good Lord knows there hasn’t been much we haven’t faced together, but we know that if we stand together, there isn’t much we can’t challenge. The values of character you taught me will be the same ones that lead me through this thing we call life. You made sure manners were a priority, and I promise to not address you by your legal name again. I may be 22, but I know in your eyes I’m never too old to get my ass busted.

I wouldn’t be the first one to say our mothers are what keep this world intact. A mother is someone who would make sure her children are taken care of before she is; better yet, a mother is someone who would do anything in this world for her child. To say I have been blessed with the world’s greatest mother would be an absolute understatement.

I know that everywhere I go, I take a piece of you with me. Sometimes it’s your sense of humor when I people watch, your secret recipe to a dinner party, or maybe even a smile you spent a fortune on. If you want the honest truth, there isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t think of you. If it weren’t for mothers like you, people like me wouldn’t be so rich in life.

Our mothers don’t get enough credit in this world. We see single mothers struggling to make ends meet, mothers hassling to get their kids to practice, mothers spending their last dime to clothe their kids. Mothers do what they do best, and that is love. Even though you get a holiday celebration once or twice a year if we count your birthday, do realize I celebrate you every day. Furthermore, I respect you more and more each day.

No matter where I go in life, how many states I travel to or time zones I am away from you, I know that home will always be where my mom is. Never forget your mothers, because they never forgot about you. You have fought the good fight Momma, and this Mother’s Day I want you to celebrate because you one hundred percent deserve it. In fact, you deserve everything in this world. I love you to infinity and beyond; happy Mother’s Day!

College is a time of gaining independence, exploring new things, and copious amounts of Netflix. If you're like me, you often find yourself laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of the situations you find yourself in. Here are ten times Bob's Burgers accurately captured college life.

1. What you're pretty sure your upstairs neighbors do at 3am every morning.

Theater Kids

Throughout school, the theater department has always been my go-to place with go-to people when I need advice, a dance party, or just someone to listen to me vent.

You never know what's going to happen when you're dealing with theatre or what kind of characters you'll encounter. We have too much fun doing anything! One time in my senior year acting class, we spent an entire class period watching Bob's Burgers, and it was the greatest class period ever.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.
