An Open Letter To Odyssey
Odyssey

Dear Odyssey,

I think any Creator can relate when I say I was a bit skeptical when I was offered a chance to be a part of this amazing platform. Being the type of person I am, I joined anyway and took my chances. Never did I think I would have an amazing opportunity to get my thoughts out in the world as a creator, let alone be the Editor In Chief of a wonderful Community!

I can honestly say Odyssey has been one of the best decisions I had made in a while. I get to write about everything and anything I desire! When I first started this journey I thought it would be difficult to produce content each week, but so much happens in the world in just 10 minutes that in over a week, I have so many ideas flowing by the time I have to create my next piece. Not only does the world's news and my own thoughts inspire me, but being the Editor In Chief of my community allows me to see the creative and unique pieces my other content creators produce. My content creators are always bringing new light to the world on different news stories and also sharing unique stories with the world.

Not to mention that I have been inspired by my Creators, I have made some amazing friendships with each and every one of them. I have met so many people by joining Odyssey and the people I have met don't even live remotely near me! My Managing Editor, Kayla, lives in New York, and she has been such an amazing support system for me and my Community. I get to interact with other EICs across the nation as well!

I also feel as though my opportunities are endless with Odyssey! Not just with article ideas, but where I can go with this organization. I was lucky enough to be writing for Odyssey, then being promoted to the Editor In Chief position, to then taking on the role as a Community Ambassador. Being a Community Ambassador, it was my job to start four other communities and help spread the growth of Odyssey. In doing any and all of these positions you learn valuable skills that are applicable to the real world. You learn to be a team player, meet deadlines, have motivation, learn that communication is crucial and learn to have fun!

Even through all the CMS complications, new language and making sure article counts are up, I have never been more pleased with joining an organization than I have with Odyssey!

We are making a difference in the world each day by being able to produce our thoughts, opinions, views and news with the world. We are changing the game in the "blogging" world. Our articles we send out start one mass conversation via online. All it takes is one person to be interested in the same thing you are, they read your article, they share it with someone else who may interested and so on.

Odyssey- Thank you for allowing me to share a unique story with the world, for the amazing opportunities and many more to come. Thank you for all the valuable skills I have learned by taking on different roles. Most importantly, thank you for letting me be me in a creative way.

Sincerely,

One dedicated, grateful and inspired Creator, Editor In Chief and Community Ambassador

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
