An Open Letter to My Younger Self on Halloween

Every year, for as long as I can remember, we've dressed up to go out trick-or-treating. I am super proud to let you know that despite being 21, I still am trick-or-treating...something we were always told we'd outgrow. We've been a lot of things in our lifetime, but what remains constant that I got from you is my fighting childhood spirit, pushing on inside of me, reminding me of why we go out. That spirit lives one and will continue to do so. Unless I am working, or sick, I will be out and about on Halloween, hopefully trick-or-treating. And one day in the future, hopefully, I'll have some children with the same childhood spirit as you, excited for Halloween each year.

Thank you for the memories -- Thank you for not having the fear which I hold today, that prevents me from dressing up as whatever I want to be. Today I fear humiliation, you looked humiliation in the face and laughed. Because of you I dressed up as many things: Harry Potter (yes Harry and not Hermione), a veterinarian, a *smiling* dead soccer player, and a hillbilly farmer, just to name a few. These days, my costumes consist of imperfect, pieced together outfits that kind of sort of resemble someone that people can recognize. While I've lost the ability to wear whatever my heart desires, I've never lost my spirit.

Thank you for the memories -- thank you for choosing such silly costumes which I can smile at today. Your obsession with Harry Potter has not faded in me, and to this day, if I could ever afford dressing up as a Hogwarts character again, I would do so in a heartbeat. I guess I'm sad to report I no longer want to be a veterinarian, but it was such an interesting year trick-or-treating when EVERYONE though we were a nurse. Also, I'm sure you know by now, but most dead people, or zombies, don't smile. But that dead soccer player you dressed up as in 6th grade turned out to be pretty cool anyways. Don't worry about using up your last jersey from playing soccer as a kid - the memories from dressing up as something you created will last a lifetime. Having such a radiant smile in your photos from that Halloween is not such a bad thing anyways. Your happiness surely shows.

This year I dressed up in a homemade costume because I don't have all the money in the world I attempted to be Marnie from the Halloweentown saga, some people got the reference and that was pretty cool! One day my dream is to dress up as Rapunzel from Tangled - long, blonde wig and all! I hope the future brings more Halloween memories.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
