An Open Letter To My Big

The best day of my life is when I ran into your arms and called you my big.

An Open Letter To My Big
Julia Vu

Biggie,

You are the girl who I immediately loved from the first time I met you. I truly believe in love at first sight. A big/ little relationship is something that is hard to explain. One that I think most people can agree on is that it is different from many other friendships. It is more than just any other friend. You are my person, my mentor, the one person that listens to me complain, partner in crime, the person who is always willing to help, my best friend, soulmate, the one who motivates me to be a better person, who loves me unconditionally, and the list can go on and on forever.

You are my role model. I want to be like you: ambitious, kind, smart, and most of all genuine. I am 100% obsessed with everything about you. You always find a way to put a smile on my face even on my worse days. Even though you may not see it; you are perfect and beautiful in every single way possible. I strive to be half the person you are. I may not tell you this a lot, but every day I am thankful to have a big that loves me for me. Not everyone can say that their relationship with their big is great. I am lucky enough to have someone who puts so much effort into a relationship and never gives up on me.

This sound cliché, but you are literally my person. We are so alike yet different in a way that completes one another. I have never met someone who has the same taste in basically everything in the book. You are probably the only person I would let borrow my clothes and shoes. You are the only person that would pay ridiculous amounts of money to travel and go to concerts with me. You are the definition of a “cool mom.”

You are the reason I joined a sorority. You reached out to me in class, the funny thing is you did not tell me what sorority you were in. It was as if it was meant to be. I will never forgive you for lying to me during big/little week. I about cried because I thought I was getting someone else as a big! I am not lying when I say this, but the happiest day of my life is when I got to run into your arms. Not everyone can say that their big is the reason they joined a sorority, but most can say that that is the reason they stayed. My relationship with you is one that I can never let go off.

I love you to the moon and back,

Little

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
