To My Perfect Little, I Just Really Freaking Love You

Dear My Perfect Little,

First of all, I want to tell you how insanely blessed I am to have you in my life.

When I joined our chapter, I had no idea what I was going to get out of it. I knew it would be a place to make friends, a place where I would make memories, and a group of girls that I could go out with every weekend.

The thing I didn't know is how amazing these girls would be and the real connections that I made.

When your pledge class joined the chapter, I was excited to make connections with you all, but more importantly, to find the same kind of relationship that I have with my big (your grand-big lol) and the friends that I had made.

Having you as my little has given me that connection times 1,000.

As soon as we met we clicked. My best friend dropped you off to me to watch you as she went to the bathroom, and by the time she came back I already knew that I wanted you as my little. So much so, that I yelled at my friend and told her that she could have ANYONE else as her little, but you were mine.

Sure enough, you're my little now and that 10 minutes that she was mad at me for yelling at her was completely worth it.

You fit so seamlessly into our Greek fam and everyone loves you so much.

You are the best person I know and have reminded me to be spontaneous and to be loud and to get out of my comfort zone.

You have shown me that I can love someone so effortlessly.

I'm so happy that you have made such good friends in our chapter, and have found those connections that I have held so close to my heart.

I know that I'm not always the perfect big, but I just want you to know how much I love you.

I'm so happy that I can be by your side for your college years, your time in our chapter, and your growth as an individual.

I have made so many memories with you and look forward to making so many more.

You are so smart, beautiful, and you make me laugh every day. You're my favorite person to go out with and stay in with. You are going to do such amazing things and I am so proud of the woman that you have become through this chapter.

I am so proud to have you as my little and am happy beyond words that you picked my weird self to be your big.

I love you so much, little one.

Love,

Your Big

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
