An Open Letter to My Non-Conventional Big

To my Biggie,

From running into your arms on Bid Day to jumping into your arms on Big/Little Reveal, I've always been proud to call you mine. There is something about you that is special, though- something that makes you much different from the rest. I've known it from the beginning and there's not a day that I will forget it. You're not like a regular Big. You're a cool Big. And I thank you for that.

Thank you for your fun spirit.

I first knew I was in for it when you Instagram captioned our Big/Little Reveal Day picture "ISO: Responsible Babysitter." Your fun and carefree spirit was why I fell for you from the start, and this was just another reminder of that.

Thank you for being low-maintenance & properly prioritizing.

When purchasing silver gifts, most of the other littles were struggling searching for the most perfect gifts to give their Bigs. I had no trouble at all- I am certain that the silver monogrammed wine glass impressed you just as much, if not more than any other gift would have.

Thank you for being slightly unprepared.

During initiation, when the vibes of seriousness were becoming nearly unbearable, you somehow managed to make it bearable. Maybe it was because of you frequently forgetting your cues, stumbling over the lyrics to the ritual songs, or accidentally laughing at the most inappropriate times-- I'm glad it was you I got to stand by and experience it with.

Thank you for being different.

Our relationship is different from most in the sense that we oftentimes forget who's the big and who's the little. Our roles are frequently reversed, and that makes things fun. On Saturday nights when I get the joy of trying to keep up with your adventurous self, I'm ultimately just practicing for when I get my own little, although just the thought of having to handle the both of you is already frightening.

Thank you for being you.

I chose you, loved you, and ended up with you for a reason- some of those reasons I will still never understand, but I wouldn't want it any other way. I am forever grateful that God chose to place your fun, carefree, crazy, wild, beautiful soul into my life.

// Here's to you, here's to me. Big and little we'll always be. //

On the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf is an icon. She's what every girl aspires to be. She's beautiful, confident, and can handle any obstacle that life throws at her. Sure, she may just be a television character. But for me, she's a role model and theres a lot that can be learned from Queen B.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
