I am here patiently waiting to meet you or if I already know you, I am waiting for you to reveal yourself.

Dear Mystery Boy,

We may have already met or you may be out there somewhere in the wilderness, but no matter who you are, I know you are special. I know you are funny, driven, adventurous, loving, and loyal. I also know that you have a high tolerance for sarcasm and you can deal with high maintenance, otherwise I would not be writing this letter to you. You definitely have a huge place in your heart for your family and friends, much like I do. I am confident you could spend hours binge watching Netflix and most importantly, I know you have good taste in music so I can trust you with the aux cord.

Like many other girls, I have been hurt before and I am protecting myself. So, show me a reason why I should tare my walls down for you. Show me why I should let you get to know the real me. Then, let me break down your walls. Know that it is okay to open yourself up to me and be your true self. Don’t be afraid and don’t look back. Let your emotions drive you in the direction of your heart; just forget about your mind for now.

First and foremost, I cannot wait for you to meet my family. Don’t be afraid of my dad even though he will give you the immediate death stare; he’s funny once you get to know him, I promise. You will love my mom minutes after you meet her. But, prepare your technological devices to receive 90 notifications per day of her liking pictures we post together on Facebook. As soon as you walk in the door, expect to be greeted with a full course meal basically screaming “welcome to my big Italian family”. Most importantly, I know you will become best friends with my little brother. I hope to see you two playing video games together, sharing music, and telling stories like you were long lost friends.

Next is my friends – the second part of my family. This is where you’ll gain the seal of approval because I trust their opinions the most. You will hear countless stories, see videos and pictures, and already hear about the outrageous messages they send in our group chats. So, you’ll basically know everything about them before you meet them. Get ready to meet my friends from diapers, high school, my roommate and of course all of my college sidekicks. Don’t worry, I’ll help you out with names and faces.

Always expect me to want to adventure because I love exploring the fascinating world around me. Put me in the passenger seat of your car and drive me anywhere you want. We will take countless beach trips and eat at every good restaurant together, trying new places and introducing each other to our childhood favorites. We will spend absurd amounts of money we don’t have to see a concert we’ve always dreamed of going to. We will do silly things and live like crazy teenagers who have a whole life ahead of them to enjoy.

Know that I am excited to love again. It has been a long time since I felt this way about someone and I am ready to feel that way again, but with you. I am ready for new experiences with you and I am ready to be yours 100%. I want to see where you grew up and I want to meet the people who made you who you are today. I want to learn your quirks, know your secrets, and be your person. I want to be the person who receives your most embarrassing snapchats, the one you want to call after something crazy happens to you, and the first thing you wake up thinking about every morning. I am here patiently waiting to meet you or if I already know you, I am waiting for you to reveal yourself. Until then, you know where to find me.

With love and true excitement,

Your mystery girl

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
