An Open Letter To My Mom Who Attended Saint Mary's College
Mary Selvaggi

Dear Mom,

Thank you. Thank you for everything. Thank you for rocking me to bed every night as a child. Thank you for your hand I held walking into the first day of Kindergarten. Thank you for your continued reassurance of my beauty every morning I would wake up and straighten my hair in middle school. Thank you for allowing me to attend an all girls high school. Thank you for giving me your shoulder I could cry on whenever my heart was broken during those four years.

Thank you for your understanding when it came to choosing a college. Thank you for your decision to go to college. Thank you for your decision to follow your sister's footsteps and attend Saint Mary's College. Thank you for the countless stories you have told me about your time here. Thank you for knocking on the doors of the girls living on the same floor as you freshmen year. Thank you for keeping in touch with all of them after graduation. Thank you for wearing your Saint Mary's ring every day with pride. Thank you for giving me the best reaction I could ask for when I told you I would be attending your Alma Mater in the fall. Thank you for giving me that special memory I will have for the rest of my life.

Thank you for going above and beyond for me move in weekend. Thank you for knocking on the doors of my neighbors in my dorm. Thank you for the confidence you have instilled in me. Thank you for hosting the best football tailgate at the Notre Dame versus Miami game. Thank you for showing me what it means to live college to the fullest.

Thank you for being the biggest role model in my life, the person I will forever strive to be. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to be your daughter. Thank you for allowing me to create this special bond between us. I love you.

Love,

Your Belle of A Daughter

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.

Your Friend Group, As Told By Disney Princesses

Each Disney Princess has their own personality, and chances are you've got a friend in your group to match it.

The dynamics of any friend group are usually determined by the personalities which make it up. Chances are, while personalities may overlap, each person in your friend group holds his or her own place. It is the differences which bring the groups together and keep them functioning. No matter how functionally dysfunctional your friend group may be, if you're anything like me, you feel absolutely blessed to have found such a wonderful group of humans to call "your people." Here is what your friend group might look like if they were Disney princesses (and that wasn't just a thing you all pretended in your heads):
