An Open Letter to my Mom.

I appreciate you.

An Open Letter to my Mom.

I know life can be so tough. We have been through so much together... from my first steps, to my first broken heart, and even the day I left for college. You have been my rock... so here's a couple things I appreciate.

Your words of advice.

When I have no idea which path to take... you always guide me. I know I've make some pretty stupid decisions, but you never turn your head. You always pick me up, and remind me how much I am loved. You're advice has saved me, and I appreciate every word.

The way you say "I love you".

There are so many people who have said those words to me. Each one is so important, but yours... it brings a sense of unconditional love. I hear these words when I'm all alone, and my mind won't stop running. Yours will stay with me forever, and I will always appreciate those moments.

Your perfume.

I know, something so simple, but so important to me. When I walk in the house... I smell your perfume. It reminds me I'm home... a place that I love. Please, for me, never change your perfume. That perfume will always remind me of you. I appreciate the fact that you wear it because I love it so much.

Your smile.

I never realized how much I loved your smile until I couldn't see it everyday. When you walk into a room, and grin from cheek to cheek... the world stops spinning. You have the most contagious smile, and every time you smile... I smile. I appreciate your smile because it makes my world happier.

The way you taught me to love.

I always watch the way you love people. You love so passionately, and everyone around you can see it. You taught me that in order to receive love... you must give love. I will always love people the way I do because of you. I really appreciate this love you taught me because it has gave me people to hold onto.

Your unconditional love.

You have loved me for so many years. You hold my hand when I cry, and rejoice in my triumphs. When I begin to question if anyone could love me... I remember that you do. Your love is so important to me, and I appreciate the way you love me.

You are a safe place to fall. I will always love you, and appreciate everything you have done for me.

I love you... forever and always.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
