Dear Little,

Congratulations on finally making it to this day! It seems like such a long time since you ran home to us on Bid Day. It has been such a crazy, beautiful journey to get to this highly anticipated day. You survived the crazy process of formal recruitment and found your home! You made it through your new member meetings and the awkwardness of ice breakers and mixers to meet more people. You memorized the Creed, memorized the names of your founders, passed the initiation test, and I could not be more proud of you.

I am so excited for you to start this new chapter of your life! Welcome to your home, officially. This is where you will have your best friends, your family, and so many special memories. These girls are the ones you will share meals with. They will laugh over funny stories with you (and maybe even at you), cry with you when your heart gets broken, and these girls will impact you whether you realize it or not.

This sorority does not only exist within the walls of our house or even this campus but all over the nation. Everyone initiated into our sorority is your sister too, which is such a beautiful thought. Whenever you meet someone who shares the same letters as you, whether it be at the Walmart in your hometown or even traveling across the country, you share the same bond as this person. You have sisters across this chapter, this state and this country that love you simply for being you.

Here is a piece of advice, little one - your years in this sorority are what you make it. What you put into this sorority is what you will get out of it. So put your best foot forward and try to have a positive attitude during your sorority years. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself to the girl sitting by herself at dinner. Compliment the girl who has on an outfit that you think is cute - I promise it will make her day. Go to socials and sisterhood events and try to enjoy hanging out and being with your sisters.

We are so excited to have you. You are a great and beautiful asset to our sisterhood. I am so excited to see what God does through you for our sorority. Welcome to our heart, welcome to our philanthropy, welcome to our sisterhood, welcome to the next chapter of your life, but most importantly welcome home, little one.

With Much Love,

Your Big

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
