An Open Letter To My Husband-To-Be

To my kind, compassionate, hard-working, loving fiance --

I'm writing you a letter to express what I can't say at times. Sometimes my words get choked on because tears well in my eyes from bittersweet joy, and I can't get those words out. That's where this letter comes in. I can write to you, and know that any words I have are going to get out regardless of whether or not there are tears of happiness.

The first thing you need to know is how extremely thankful I am for all that you've done, and continue to do, for me. You work harder than anyone I've ever known to ensure that we maintain the kind of life we want. You go to work every day, and work a full shift; sometimes more. You constantly strive to better yourself, and in turn that has made me want to strive for better as well.

You look out for my well-being more than I ever known a man could do. You push me to be a better, healthier person, and it's opened my eyes to a person I never thought I could be.

When we started dating I had no clue that I had found the man I'd be spending the rest of
my life with. To tell you the truth, I wish I had done so a lot earlier. The opportunity was there, but we were both too stubborn to try. Thank goodness we finally gave it a shot because I can't imagine my life without you.

When we talk about the future it's not your future or my own, but it's ours. It is our joint future. I am looking forward to it because I know that I'll be by your side for it all, and I'm counting down the days until I can finally call you my husband. The day you asked me to be your wife was the best day of my life, but I know that the day we say "I do" is going to be the absolute best.

I can't wait to see you with our children. I see you with my younger cousins, and your kindness and playfulness with them have ensured me that you're going to be an absolutely amazing father. You have such a gentle strength about you, and I can't wait to see what you do with it when it comes to our kids. They're going to absolutely adore you, and I know that when the time comes that we have a family of our own I'm likely to fall in love with you even more; regardless of whether or not I think that's possible now.

Speaking of families, have I ever told you how much my family talks about you? It's like you're the missing piece to a very large puzzle; not only for me but for all of those close to me as well. You are the grandson that teaches all of the other grandsons what it's like to treat a woman with love, kindness, and respect. You're the brother to the little sister who has always dreamed of having an older brother who protects her and loves her. You are the son to a mother and father who never knew they needed a son. My mom and sister absolutely adore you because you are the exact person I need. My grandmother loves you because you're the most compassionate person I could have ever been blessed with. My cousins love you because you're the person who will play tag with them for hours on end. You truly are a part of my family already. You ARE my family.

You are every prayer, every dream, and every hope I have ever had. You are the person who has given me a new outlook on life. I am the woman I am today because you've given me the courage and strength to pursue my dreams. Thank you for everything you are. Thank you for everything you've done for me. Thank you for everything you will do for me. Thank you for loving me in every single way imaginable. You are everything to me.

Love,
Me, Your Future Mrs. ♥

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
