An Open Letter To My Horse That Was Put Down

My dear four-legged friend,

I know that you were in pain and I made this decision to help you. It was the toughest choice, but I know that you are no longer in pain. I want to thank you for everything. Thank you so much for all the good times we had together and thank you for helping me through the bad times. Thank you for teaching me how to be a better person and for having a personality that couldn't be matched by any other horse that I ever met. I know that I made mistakes and you did too, but we learned from them and we grew as a team. I loved watching you do what you love, from running through the pasture or pulling a cart in the parade it was a joy to be in your life with you. You have touched my life more than you will ever know. You taught me more about the world than I could ever imagine. I was taught to be patient and kind. I was taught that it is okay to make mistakes because that is how you learn. Thank you for those long nights in the barn when I just spilled my life problems to you. Thank you for the horse shows and the crazy costume classes. You were truly my best friend and you left a hoof print on my heart. It was a joy to have you in my life. Rest easy my friend, enjoy that big green pasture in the sky.

Love Always,

Your ever so grateful owner
