An Open Letter To My High School Girl Friends

How lucky am I to have found a group of girls that make saying goodbye so hard.

An Open Letter To My High School Girl Friends
Maggie Mae Sheehan

This letter may sound cliché and oversaid, but I mean every word of it. I honestly do not know where I would be without you girls. You brought me years of laughter and memories, and made living in Floral Park that much better. You have all been my support when I needed it, and managed to put a smile on my face with just one gesture.

When I think of home, I think of all of you. Every memory we have made will forever hold a special place in my heart. People can try and say they have a bond closer than ours, but that just isn’t true. Not many people can say they have a group chat with eleven of their friends and talk it in every second of every day. Being over 600 miles away from all of you has only made me realize more how much you all mean to me. When I think back to high school, I think back to all of our crazy adventures. From going to random towns to meet each others roommates, or going into Manhattan just to leave an hour later to make it back to a party, every second was worth it. You all hold such amazing qualities, and I am so proud to call all of you my best friends everyday. I never thought I would find a group of girls that could make me feel so complete. Whenever I am with you guys, I can be myself and not be ashamed or embarrassed of anything. I can turn to you girls for just about anything and know that you guys will make everything better. I can call any of you at any hour of the day and know that you will pick up in a heartbeat. Every minute shared with you all will forever be cherished. These next four years are going to fly by and before we know it we will all be right back in Floral Park together. Although we may be hundreds of miles apart, I truly am just one phone call away.

And If you are reading this and happen to come across one of these girls, please know this; you truly are the luckiest people in the world. I have never met a group of girls more loving and crazy than mine. Treat them like gold, be there for them always, and enjoy every second you have with them. It is rare to find people in this world that can make such a difference in your life, so when you find people that do, hold onto them forever.

I hope you all have the times of your lives these next four years. Stay true to yourselves and know that you have an amazing group of friends that will always love you for you. This wasn’t goodbye, just a see you later. Just know I’m counting down the days until I am reunited with all of you again. Have fun my crazy friends, love you all always.

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
