An Open Letter To My High School Ag Teacher

You've had a lot on your plate and did a remarkable job at making everyone feel like a priority.

Dear Ag Teacher,

I would like to start by thanking you for all of the wonderful things that you have done for my classmates and I. The time that you've spent staying after school to regrade portfolios, visiting SAE project sites, helping with coursework and acting as a makeshift therapist for all of your students did not go unnoticed. I noticed all of it, and I wish that there was a way that I could even begin to repay you for all of your hard work. Over the course of four years you've played the role of my teacher, therapist, second mother and friend. I am honored to have had you as my teacher, and I wouldn't trade the time that I spent in your class for anything.

Because of you, I've learned so much useful information and gained a ton of knowledge that I look forward to using in college and in my career. From basic animal handling and restraint to nutrition and physical exams, the units from your class have all played a key role in my decision to become a veterinarian. You pushed me to work hard, and unlike a lot of other people, you still supported my dreams when I slacked off. I always knew that I could turn to you when I needed help getting back on track. You're the reason I was able to find a study strategy that works for me. I would've never found the strategy that suits me if you hadn't pushed our Ag class to explore our own learning styles.

I look up to you and I'd give anything to make you proud. You've had a lot on your plate and did a remarkable job at making everyone feel like a priority. Everyone in my Ag class felt comfortable talking to you, and your room became a safe zone for all of us. I can't think of a single topic that was ever off the table. You were my biggest advocate at the high school and I can only hope that I will find a professor that is half as great as you are in college.

Saying goodbye to you on the last Ag class of my senior year was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I remember the tears in your eyes as you handed my classmates and me our certificates of completion. It was evident that you were going to miss us and that made the moment even more special. I have no doubt in my mind that everyone from our ag class is going to miss each other because you held us together throughout our four years of ag. We are not friends, students or acquaintances; we are family. Thank you for always making us feel like a priority.

You provided me with a second family that I will always have a special spot for in my heart. I will always hold on to the memories from your class. Please keep in touch with me, and I promise to visit as much as possible. You will forever be my favorite teacher. I miss you already.

Sincerely,

A Student Who Looks Up to You

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
