Dear Guy Best Friend,

Having a guy best friend is probably the greatest thing ever! Thank you for being a HUGE part of my life! I value our friendship tremendously and cannot imagine not being friends with you. I wanted to take the time to thank you for all you have done for me! Here's to you best friend:

Thank you for always making me laugh when all I want to do is cry. You never let me sit there feeling sorry for myself. Instead, you come over with your jokes and silly antics and make me forget why I was upset in the first place.

Thank you for not sugar coating anything! Thank you for telling me when that dress does not look good on me and offering me advice on what does. I value your opinion and am so glad that you never hold your tongue and always speak your mind, even if I don't necessarily want to hear it.

Thank you for driving me around and being my chauffeur. Some of my favorite memories are singing (very badly) at the top of my lungs, with my feet on the dashboard riding shotgun in your car. I take the responsibility of copilot very seriously and promise to play the best songs we can sing to.

Thank you for being my brunch date! Spontaneous calls saying, "Get dressed, we are going to get food," are music to my ears. There is no problem in the world that a late night breakfast at Waffle House can't fix. Thank you for making sure I don't starve when I forget to eat because school and life are busy.

Thank you for being my protector (not that I need one because I consider myself as tough as you)! You are always there when that creepy guy downtown won't leave me alone. You walk me to my car when it is late and dark outside. You have purchased countless Uber's for me to ensure that I get home safe. Thank you for always making me feel safe and at ease when you are around.

Thank you for showing me how to be a real friend! You never judge me or question the decisions that I make. You are always a listening ear and a voice of reason when I need you to listen. There is no time that I cannot call on you and I know that you will come running as fast as you can!

Thank you for everything that you do for me! I value our friendship tremendously. Words cannot express how much of an impact on my life you have had. I don't know where I would be in life without you. Thank you for always being my date to sorority events, my late night moviegoer, my shoulder to cry on, my shopping buddy, the one who always buys me chicken nuggets, and most importantly my friend.

Love,

Your Best Friend

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
