An Open Letter To My Spring Semester Self

I promise I won't be as lazy and maybe even go to the gym...

Dear Spring Semester Self,

As winter break is coming up, the new semester is just around the corner. With this new beginning, there are some thinks from Fall Semester that you should probably rethink. Don't get me wrong, you kicked ass this semester and you should be proud. However, there is always room for improvement and I hope you can keep these promises to yourself.

Don't stress as much. I know that is easier said than done, but know when it is okay to let loose and have fun. School work is always going to be stressful, just try your hardest and don't freak out over the little things. One bad grade doesn't mean you're going to drop out of college and have no future.

Stay healthy. Instead of eating popcorn and watching Netflix in your spare time, try and make it to the gym more often. Working out not only makes you feel better about yourself, but it releases stress as well. Also, stop eating all the food the caf has to offer you, just because cookies and ice cream are there 24/7 doesn't mean you should constantly eat them (although it is always good to treat yourself at times). Lastly, try to reduce the caffeine intake and regulate your sleep schedule. You'll feel better, I promise.

Try something new. Put yourself out there. You made a lot of new friends first semester, which is awesome. This semester, try sparking up conversations with people in your classes, or mingle on the bus. Step out of your comfort zone and try not to be as shy. I know you can be awkward at times, but try your best.

Get more involved. You joined groups first semester but didn't follow through with all of them. Go to events, make connections, and get involved with people who are interested in the same things as you. If you know people it will make going to meetings a lot more enjoyable.

Be more understanding. Your family misses you and sometimes they just want to talk for 20 minutes at the end of the day. Don't say you don't have time, make it. Call home just to catch up or say hi, it will make your family happy..especially your mom.

Be proactive. Start looking for summer internships and building your resume. Take any chance of experience you can get. Start working harder and taking advantage of all the opportunities your amazing school has to offer you. Also, get a job, even if it is working at the mall or a fast food joint. Your bank account is starting to scare me.

I hope winter break is relaxing and enjoyable. Come back second semester prepared to work hard and improve yourself. It will be worth it in the end.

Love,

Fall Semester Self

xoxo

I'm sure, like me, many of you received lots of gift cards over the holidays. After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
