An Open Letter To My Family Vacation Spot

To my favorite place in the world,

You are the single place where I have the happiest memories in all of my life. When I am driving over the bridge for the first time each summer, an indescribable feeling takes me over. There is something so comforting knowing that you are about to enter your favorite place in the world.

I've been visiting you for as long as I can remember. Each year, I get more and more excited to see you... If that's even possible. Your warm sand and homey feel has created so many pleasant memories for me over the years. Memories that are talked about all the time. Memories that make us laugh until we are crying at family get-togethers. I am beyond thankful for these memories.

The greatest part about you is that you never change. As long as I've been visiting, virtually everything has stayed the same. This has impacted me greatly because I personally hate change. Every year I visit, everything is still right where I left it. I can still walk to my favorite coffee shop every morning and the same local bar to get a drink at night. In an ever changing world, you remain constant.

You help to get me through my year. When I'm sitting in class, I sometimes catch myself daydreaming about your beauty. I want to be sitting on the warm sand with my chair in the water, reading a good book. When I am anxious, I think about laying on your beautiful beach relaxing. When I am sad, I think about all of the fond memories I have made because of you. When I am hungry, I think about how I could really go for some of your world famous pancakes. You virtually know how to always brighten my day when you are in my thoughts.

You have become a family tradition that will continue on for years and years. You have brought hope to our family and help us look ahead to a brighter time when things weren't looking so bright. Never in a million years did I think one place would mean so much to my family and I.

As I sit and reflect about all of the amazing, relaxing and just plain fun times I've had at my family vacation spot, I feel blessed. It is uncommon that families take trips together these days, let alone to the same place for many years in a row. It is such a great feeling to know that I am part of such a tight knit family who will continue to stick together. This vacation spot continues to strengthen our bond and relationships with each other. Your inviting atmosphere brings us together year after year. Thank you for the amazing memories, I can't wait for many more throughout my life.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
