An Open Letter To My Graduating Best Friend

It has been one heck of a year, to say that least. I definitely did not expect to come to college and meet my best friend. More than that, I did not expect to meet my best friend and then have to come to terms with the fact that she was graduating. But wow, I could not be happier that I did. While the fact that you are graduating has been hard for me, I still cannot believe I got the opportunity to meet somebody like you.

All year, you have been my rock, and my eyes and ears and it is so hard to put into words how much you mean to me. You are the definition of what I aspire to be, and I could not imagine how this year would have gone without you. I have never become so close with someone so quickly, but how could we not have? We are so alike, and that is what made it so easy. My favorite thing about writing this is just thinking about how you are following your dreams. We are such dreamers, and it makes it that much easier to be so happy for you and how successful you are. Continuing your education to get one step closer to your dream job will be so great for you. I know without a doubt in my mind that you are going to be great at what you want to do. Your genuine nature, compassion and overall demeanor will be absolutely killer when you get to start working with kids.

In this last few weeks, I have gotten to see you experience true happiness, and that is what has made this so easy. I have also realized that our friendship is not something temporary. We have a friendship that cannot be broken, no matter how hard the circumstances are. You are the definition of a forever friend, and that is something that is hard to find in most people.

Sure, I will miss our "Glee" jam sessions, our emotional nights where we order cookies and pizza, and just, in general, having you only five minutes away. But the fact that you are moving on to even greater things will continue to remind me that everything will be okay. I look forward to our future adventures and our FaceTime dates. I know you will only be a text or call away.

No matter the miles, you will always be my number one. I love you to the moon and back, thank you for being my best friend.

I am so proud of you.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
