An Open Letter To A Millionaire

My attempt at finding wealth

An Open Letter To A Millionaire
Douglasvermeeren's Blog

There's an old Jim Rohn quote that states that you are the sum of the five people you surround yourself with. On top of that, my role model Gary Vaynerchuk says that you need to constantly audit yourself. Essentially, be aware of who you are and what you're doing. That being said, I sat down and thought about my circle of influence and realized that there is pretty major gap that I need to fill.

You see, I'm surrounded by awesome people. My family loves & supports me, my friends seem to enjoy my company, I'm healthy, and things are looking up in terms of my career post-college graduation. Life is good and I have a lot to be grateful for. I'm not denying that at all.

But there's one area of my life that I could improve in: wealth.

My entire life I've never known anyone who has made over $80k a year. And like my idol Tai Lopez suggests - if you want to make 7 figures, find people who make 9.

You see, I respect and look up to millionaires. However to me, its not about the lambos, the models, or even the stacks of wealth. My friends will tell you that I have a fairly sized ego, but I know when to keep it in check. To me; Its about that feeling of freedom and security. The ability to travel, help out friends when necessary, having the proper resources to give back to people who have supported on the way up.

I also realized that I don't need seven figures to be happy. I don't need to be number one at an organization. I'm totally okay with doing what I love, be an expert at it, and make a solid six-figure salary.

So by Tai's logic, I need to find someone making 7 so I can make 6.

So consider the rest of this post an open letter to any individual who is considered a millionaire.

To who it may concern,

Hello! My name is Joe Kleckner. I'm an ambitious guy looking to expand and network with people who have made a lot of money. More specifically, millionaires. It doesn't matter how you made your millions, just that I respect individuals who have earned their wealth through hard work, dedication, and a clear vision.

Now before you accept my awkward LinkedIn connection invite, you may be wondering, "what can this random kid from Anoka, Minnesota do for me?" Well, that is the billion dollar question then isn't it?

I can go off about how my education and life experiences has prepared me for a chance to achieve greatness. How college and my support system has given me the self-esteem to believe that I can achieve anything. But I recognize that sustainable, real, success doesn't happen over night. I'm looking for someone that can help me 'get there' one way or another.

If you're an individual who values legacy, whether it be within your family or something greater, that's the space where I can help you out. I respect and admire anyone who has made a name for themselves: and I want to be a person that helps preserve your legacy of health, wealth, love, and happiness.

Teach me all that you know about making money and maintaining the 'wealth mindset'. Show me the secrets to keeping wealth in tough times. Expose me to new ways of looking at the world. I'm a willing young person, a student, who values what you bring to the table and what you have brought to the world. I bring a blank slate and sponge that I will use to record and absorb anything you're willing to teach me.

Let me be the person who says "(insert name here) taught me all I know about what I am today".

I propose that we meet for lunch, and talk about life. I'll show you how I can be the 'time capsule' for your success.

Thank you for your consideration,

Joe

So there you have it, something to get off my chest. If you are/know someone who has made a million dollars, let me know. I would love for the chance to meet and network with people in a position of wealth.

Who is missing from your circle of influence? Whats kinds of people do you need to reach out to in order to fill in the spaces in your life?

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
