Dear High School Senior,
Congrats! You’ve made it through over 12 years of schooling! Not only that, but soon you will be graduating high school. I know how exciting that must be for you, but I also know how sick of school you are and that senioritis has finally set in. But, I am here to tell you…GET YOUR BUTT IN GEAR. I know to you I am just some college student blabbing on about college, blah blah blah…scholarships, loans, and all those things you feel like you don’t need to worry about. WRONG! Scholarships are something you need to do whether you are tired and sick of writing about “Why do YOU deserve this scholarship?” Trust me, you will thank me if you fill out that extra one or two scholarships. That scholarship you weren’t going to fill out could be a full semester of books!
Also high school senior, please please PLEASE do not slack off in your classes. Again, I know what it’s like to be in your shoes, school is boring, and the homework is pointless. Why should I care? I have already been accepted. NEWS FLASH! Colleges do look at your final transcript. I have even heard of horror stories about how people have lost school academic scholarships for a lowered GPA after that final transcript was sent. I don’t want that to be you. You have made it this far, do you want to throw it all away with only a few more months to go?
Finally, high school senior, I know you are excited to be entering the college world here soon, but let me tell you one thing. I was so excited to go to college and get away from those kids that didn’t like me, get away from the drama, and finally become and be treated like an adult. Now looking back, I wish I could go back to high school and relive those memories over and over again. You might not believe me, but if given the chance I would go back to high school again. I love college, but high school is what made me who I am today. Embrace every moment and memory over the next few months, because before you know it, you are already a junior in college and it seems like only yesterday you were walking across that stage grabbing your high school diploma.
Sincerely,
College Student
