Dear Ryan Bradford,

Where do I even begin? Should I start with your incredible personality, your eagerness to put others in a good mood, or the way you can instantly put a smile on one’s face? Luckily for me, I had the pleasure of sitting next to you at lunch everyday and becoming a good friend of yours. You always hugged me when you saw me in the hallway, and no matter what I was wearing or how I looked, you always gave me a compliment. When I was feeling down or stressed, you noticed and told me “hey, it’ll be okay!” with your contagious smile. You always asked if I wanted the snacks you were too full to eat, because you “felt bad for wasting them.” I have never met someone with such a kind heart.

Although I was only fortunate enough to know you this past school year, it was clear as day to see the impact you left on people, including myself. Between family, friends and teachers in school, you are loved by so many. Everyone was proud of you for being so involved in Special Olympics sports and the JV boys and girls soccer manager. You really are talented, truly a legend.

One of the many valuable traits about you that I will always admire is your ability to change someone’s day around. Anyone who was having a bad day could have a conversation with you, and suddenly feel delighted. Every day, you found a way to make me laugh, and there was never a time that I wasn’t smiling sitting next to you. Everyone that knows you can agree that with you, there was never a dull moment.

Heaven definitely gained a beautiful, genuine soul. You touched so many hearts, and had the biggest one that I know. You will always be remembered for your friendliness and upbeat charm. Thank you for being apart of my life, I couldn’t be more grateful to be a friend of yours. You will be dearly missed.

Sincerely,
Raevyn Reader

In all sincerity, I would like to thank the Special Olympics. Not only do you allow children with special needs to accomplish any activity they put their mind to, but you give hope. Those that are apart of your organization believe they can do anything, because you show them they can. I would like to thank you because you allowed such a kind soul like Ryan to participate in what you have to offer. He has inspired the community and was full of so much joy each and every day. Ryan had a cheerful spirit as a friend and as an athlete. The way Special Olympics can change lives is truly heartening; thank you for giving children such triumph in what they do.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
