My Dearest Cleveland,
Thank you. You did it. You overcame everything. The taunts, the jokes, the constant undermining of your abilities. You did it. Ohio was truly against the world and I have never been so proud to be a Northeast Ohioan and a lover of Cleveland.
Cleveland has always been the bridesmaid and never the bride. The words, "There's always next year," left the mouths of fans one too many times. We've always been told that we're a joke and that Cleveland will never amount to anything, and that was finally proven wrong.
To the Cleveland Cavaliers: We have watched you lose over and over again, but we've always stayed. There were some who burned jerseys, vowed to never watch a game ever again and took their loyalties elsewhere. But the true fans never faltered. Players have come and gone, coaches have been fired and hired and Cleveland has still remained a family. You guys deserve every single win you achieved and no one can take those away from you. Including the NBA Championship. It's all yours, but thank you for sharing it with us. Thank you for never giving up and for dedicating your blood, sweat and tears to that court to prove to the world that Cleveland is amazing.
Kyrie, thanks for that final three-pointer that gave us the lead. JR, thanks for all those threes and for stepping up this season. KLove and Tristian, thanks for every rebound. To the rest of the team, thank you for putting 100% into every game and believing in Cleveland.
To LeBron James: Thank you for joining the Cleveland team. Thank you for leaving for Miami so you could improve your skills and prove to the nation how spectacular you are. Thank you for having the courage and heart to return home and give Ohio the win it deserves. Thank you for putting Cleveland, Ohio on the map and giving us the honor to share a National Championship with you. You're just a kid from Akron, but every single person in the country looks up to you. You have taught each and every one of us to strive for greatness and believe that anything is possible.
I have never been happier to be a Cleveland fan and this is Ohio's time to shine. Northeast Ohio is finally getting the attention it has worked toward for years. June 19, 2016, will go down in history in Cleveland and NBA history. People will be talking about the past seven games for years to come. LeBron James is a legend and will retire as the best basketball player in history, and Cleveland has the privilege to cherish the number 23 forever.
Thank you, Cleveland, for a superb season and every season prior that led us to this moment. Thank you for never quitting and for believing your fans are the best fans in the world because we truly are.
Sincerely,
Every Cavs Fan
