Dear Christmas lovers,
I get it. I understand. Christmas is amazing. It is the most wonderful time of the year filled with joy and cheer. However, there is one minor detail that you may have skimmed over during your enthusiasm to blast your Christmas music, prepare your eggnog, and watch your holiday movies. That minor detail just so happens to be a little holiday called Thanksgiving. You may have heard of it, or perhaps have been forced to partake in a play during your preschool years that involved pilgrim garb. You may even vaguely remember photographs of fall leaves, turkeys, and pumpkin pies that come from this glorious holiday that is Thanksgiving.
This is a pretty important day honestly, and it is upsetting that we trample all over it. Not only is it a time we spend with our extended family and celebrate what we're thankful for, but most importantly it is a time to celebrate and overindulge in America's favorite thing: food. How can you skip over Thanksgiving where we literally gather around a table to discuss everything that we are thankful for and just eat over it? It is the best excuse to quit counting calories and to continuously eat food and leftovers for an entire weekend. Not even just food, but all of the carbs. You've got macaroni, mashed potatoes, pies, turkeys, casseroles, and really anything your heart desires.
Though it is less popular in the film, music, and decorations genre, it still has a few good competitors. You've got your classic "Charlie Brown Thanksgiving," Adam Sandler's "Thanksgiving Song," and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Everyone loves the Thanksgiving Day Parade, and it's actually kind of symbolic because Santa Claus comes at the very end. He is the last part of the parade signifying that Thanksgiving had to happen before Christmas could. So please, all I'm saying is give Thanksgiving a chance. You only have a month after Halloween to wait before you can put up your Christmas tree and play your music. You can do it. I believe in you.
Sincerely,
An avid Thanksgiving lover
