To those of you in a committed relationship,
I’ll admit, I came into college unsteady about having a serious relationship so I could live my life on a new journey. But, then I realized that I don’t want to live “a new journey” without him. College is about finding who you are, and living the dream but does that mean you need to be single?
Being in a relationship does not mean that you have to stay in on the weekends or that you need to be by their side constantly. Being in a committed relationship is okay. It means that you have (most likely) found the one that you want to spend the rest of your life with. So, stop looking around at your single friends and wishing you could be them because, in reality, they are wishing that they could have what you have.
Let's be honest, college is the most stressful time of your life and being in a long-term relationship does have its benefits.
1. They are always there for you
2. They are your escape when you want a night in
3. They are always down for food
4. They always support you
5. They are always there when you need a good excuse for a cute Instagram picture
6. They are always there to give you compliments
7. They are always there to be your best friend
Be thankful for the one standing beside you through all of your troubles, and do not ever take them for granted. Being in a relationship does not mean that you need to overthink every little thing. You fell in love for a reason; whether it was immediately or progressively.
So, to my boyfriend, thank you for all of laughs, the cries, and the times that you have supported me throughout my most stressful years. I am truly blessed every day to have you in my life.
