What do you have against us?

Dear Anti-Trump Supporters,

In the last month or so, there have been numerous protests and marches around the nation by you anti-Trump supporters, some of which have been peaceful, while others have not. You have taken the nation by storm, and while you preach unity over division, and for the people not against the people, your actions contradict your words. Phrases such as “not my President” and claiming all Trump supporters are racist, sexist, prejudice, etc. is doing the exact opposite of unifying this nation, and in reality, its making the nation more and more divided.

But hey, you’re not wrong, we do need to come together as one and be the UNITED States of America, not the divided nation that we are now. But have you ever thought that you are doing the exact opposite? You may be uniting all of the other anti-Trump supporters, but what about the actual Trump supporters. What do you have against us?

Trump is our President whether you like it or not, and you honestly just have to deal with it. There were numerous people, myself included, that were upset and unhappy when Obama became President eight years ago. But did you see us rioting in the streets? Were we hostile towards Obama supporters? Did you ever see us call them names, physically and verbally attack/abuse them because they supported the President of the United States? No. We did not. In fact, we sat back and just waited to see what happened. Yes, we were unhappy, but we still gave him a chance, and a lot of us Republicans thought he did an awful job. So, we wanted change and voted in President Trump FAIR AND SQUARE. So, stop complaining that Hillary won the popular vote and she’s not in office; that’s not how the election works, we have something called the electoral college.

But really, what do you have against the people who support the President. Just because we support a person, it doesn’t mean we have the same qualities that they have. We don’t support every single policy he has; you can’t 100% agree with someone on everything. Are you upset that we call you out over things that just don’t make sense? That we try to exercise our first amendment rights too? That you can call us out on social media, physically attack us for wearing a Make America Great Hat, yet whenever we try to retaliate or spit the facts you don’t want to hear it and you get mad at us for “attacking your first amendment rights.” I’m tired of all of you being intolerant to criticism and facts. Man up and be able to take what we have to say without crying to your safe space. This country needs adults, not crybabies.

I ask a few things from you, and if you can do this then maybe we’ll become more unified as a nation. First, stop forcing your views down our throats and then getting angry and physical when we oppose them. Second, maybe actually listen to Trump’s policies and ideas and read into what they are rather than listen to the bias media nowadays; you’ll learn something and realize how skewed the media is and how brainwashed all of you are to want Trump to fail. Third, let us exercise our rights and we’ll let you exercise them. We will be civil if you will be too. And lastly, give Trump a chance. Please. We gave Obama a chance, why can’t you do the same.

Sincerely,

A supporter of the President

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
