An Open Letter To My Big Sisters
Wintana Yohannes

To the two most beautiful (and annoying) individuals in my life,

I don’t say it enough but I want to thank you for all you do for me. I don’t know how my life would’ve turned out if God hadn’t blessed me with the two of you. You helped raise me, even though that wasn’t your job. You’ve been my extra set of ears, my confidants, when I feel troubled. You give me advice and are honest with me because you don’t want me to make the same mistakes you have. You’re selfless and I want you to know that the sacrifices you’ve made for me are noticed and appreciated.

You’re my best friends, I’d choose a night in watching movies with you over anything else.... well, most things. So many of the best memories of my childhood are of us going to Applebee’s and catching up on laughter and what we’ve been up to. Even though you’re older, you always made an effort to include me and make sure I felt valued.

You’re my #1 fans. I can’t disappoint you and I don’t have to try hard to make you proud because you’ve always been proud of me. You celebrate my triumphs and successes with more enthusiasm than I do. When I fail, I look to you for encouragement.

You inspire me. You are women of grace and irrefutable strength. All my life, I’ve tried to emulate how you carry yourselves. I am the woman I am today because I have had you to look up to and I recognize that not everyone has the luxury of having their role models so close. I look at you and am always in awe of your confidence. I learned what self love looks like by observing you and listening to your stories. You’re a major reason I’ve been able to get through all the rough patches in my life.

I love you, I’m proud of you, and I’m grateful for you.

Sincerely,

Your Baby Sis

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
