Dear Best Friend,
Let's face it, we've been through a lot together in the past seven years. We've been through good times and bad times, break-ups and make-ups, hospital trips, big life decisions, and some minor disasters. We have wiped each other's tears and made each other laugh, and have so many inside jokes that sometimes it takes a second to catch on to a certain reference. I can't imagine my life without you in it.
Both of us have turned 20 this year, and as the 365 days of 2015 gradually come to a close, it amazes me that we have come so far. It seems like just yesterday we were in eighth grade! And now here we are, having just completed the first semester of our sophomore years of college. Can you believe how far we've come from those two teenage girls who thought they knew everything?
We have certainly both grown up in the past seven years. We are figuring out what paths to take for our futures. College and living together in a dorm room has taught us valuable lessons about each other, like how we both get super irritated when people deliberately leave their things on our desks or beds or trek dirt on the floor (I can almost hear the angry sigh you make when this happens).
This year has been a big one for us. We have gotten on each other's nerves, yelled and argued, gotten so preoccupied with homework and other things that, for a while, we failed to see that it was affecting us both. And even though it seems as if I am always doing homework, I want you to know that you mean the world to me. You are the most wonderful best friend I could ever have. Yes, even when you do things to deliberately irritate me or tickle my stomach and feet, you are still the best. Truth is, I wouldn't have you any other way.
So, even as our lives are constantly changing and we may argue or squabble, cry, or get upset, I want you to know that I am always here for you. Remember, you will always be my best friend and no one can get in the way of that.
Love,
Your Best Friend
