Dear College Senior,
As graduation comes closer and closer, your time becomes shorter and shorter. Life is coming at you head on. What will you do next? Nothing in this life is guaranteed. This letter is for you. This letter is an eye opener for you that life is coming. We're down to double digits. Our time here is coming to an end. So grab life by the horns and hang on tight for this crazy ride.
Now, I'm not saying that school and your grades aren't important, but remember to take time for yourself. Take time to go out on a Friday night with your friends. Take time to go to a late night concert when you have an 8 am the next day. Take time to hang out with that friend you haven't seen in a while. Take time to spend with your family when you can. I know you are away from home. but you never know where you will be after this crazy journey we call college ends, so take every opportunity to make the most of your last semester.
To the greek life members and those students involved on campus, take the time to hug your brothers or your sisters tighter. Take time to thank your advisors. Go to all the events you can. Take it from someone who is now an alum and not as involved, you will not know what to do with your time at first. It will be hard seeing all the pictures and tweets from sisters knowing this was the place you fell in love.
To the student who is all concerned with grades and only grades, your grades are important. Trust me, I understand that. But, you also have to understand that sometimes you just need a break. Sometimes you have to take an adventure with your friend at midnight when you have an 8 am. Sometimes you have to take a chance and accidentally forget to read something before a quiz. Don't waste all of your time on just school work. Spend time with your friends. Go out to dinner then do homework. Get some kind of social interaction.
To the student who may not have gotten as involved, I understand why you may not have. It's a bigger university and there was just no time for you or nothing for you to get involved in. I encourage you to try and be involved even if it isn't with a club. Go to a basketball game. Go to a softball game. Go to a baseball game. Get involved in some way. It's your last semester, why not do it big?
To the senior who has no idea what they are doing after they graduate, IT IS OKAY! No matter what some people may say or how some people already have things lined up after college, it is okay to not know what you are doing after graduation. It's only the end of January close to the start of February, I promise all the opportunities for jobs are not out. This is something that I myself am even struggling with. So, my advice to you is not to jump the gun too soon. Apply everywhere you can because you never know who will offer you a job. Don't put all your eggs in one basket and play the field. Life's too short. Don't waste the opportunities you have, but don't pass up the opportunity of a lifetime.
Finally, to all seniors, WE DID IT! We are almost there! The countdown has begun to May 6th. My final word of advice is don't take things for granted. Live the last of your days here, up! Don't miss out on an opportunity. Go out with your friends on a Thursday night. Go to a basketball game. Go out to dinner with that friend you haven't seen in a while. May 6th will be here before you know it so why not live it up!
Sincerely,
A Fellow Senior (:
