An Open Letter To My Dad

Dear Daddy,

Every Father’s Day I realize I have so much to thank you for. Thank you for always being there for me no matter how old I turn. Thank you for all the love and support you have given me throughout the years. Thank you for always picking me up when I fall down and for always giving me a hug when you know I need one. Most importantly, thank you for showing me how a man should treat a woman by being my mom’s best friend and true love.

Thank you for being my first hero and showing me how strong a real man can be. Thank you for all the money you spent feeding, educating and spoiling me with…. well everything you have bought me. Thank you for all the years you spent listening to my idle gossip and thank you for all your cheesy dad jokes that always make me laugh!

Thank you for carrying a younger me to bed when I fell asleep in the car. Thank you for vanquishing all the monsters in the closet and under the bed. Thank you for believing in me from the moment I was born and for pushing me to be the best person I can be. Thank you for inspiring me to follow my dreams because you have proven they can come true. Thank you for giving me a family I love and adore.

Thank you for coaching and teaching me to play sports, like basketball, baseball and soccer. Thank you for teaching me how to cook and inspiring the greatest chief I know. Thank you for being smart and proving how smart you are by marrying mom and having such great, awesome, amazing and modest children.

Thank you for teaching my brothers how to be great men because they are becoming great men. Thank you for always forgiving me when I was wrong and teaching me how to forgive those who have wronged me. Thank you for teaching me how to be true to myself and accepting of others.

Thank you for working so hard to provide me with everything I could ever want and everything I could ever need. You have taught me so much and I want to remind you today that I learned so much from you. I am so lucky to have such a loving, strong and kindhearted father. I love you so much dad and I want this letter to remind you of how much you taught me. No matter where I am in life just remember, I will always be your little girl.

With all my love,

Your daughter.
