An Open Letter To Myself And Maybe You

I know you don't currently believe or admit that you have many good qualities, but one day you will know your worth... You will know your worth and you'll be able to say it aloud without shame.

An Open Letter To Myself And Maybe You

Some days...

You may not think you're smart, but you've proven countless times that you are, and you will continue to do so.

You may not think you're worthy of love, but those closest to you have stuck around through many ups and downs, and they're not going anywhere simply because of the fact that you don't fully love yourself yet.

You may not think you're pretty, but every single person is beautiful. No matter how cliche it sounds, individuality makes everyone unique and beautiful in their own way.

You may not think you work hard enough, but (most of the time), you do, and (most of the time) you're just too hard on yourself.

You may not feel confident, but eventually, you will stand tall and strong knowing who you are and where your life is headed.

You may not always feel happy, but remember to find one good thing in every day.

You may think or be told that you're "too emotional," but there's really no such thing. Emotion is necessary, and although some show it more than others, emotion is a highly significant part of life and human connection.

You may not think you're strong, but your scars prove that you are. You've been through things just like everyone else. You've fallen, gotten back up, and fallen again. You're fighting for inner peace, and with time, you will find it.

You may think that you need to know all the answers, but, no one ever knows all of the answers.

You may not think you'll ever figure life out, but one day you'll look around and realize that this is what you've been waiting for.

It will be simple and magical all at once.

Self-love is something that's dealt with on a daily basis.

All ages, all genders, all ethnicities ... we all struggle.

Maybe some more than others and some hardly at all.

But at some point in life, we question something about ourselves. Or question where we may be headed.

We second guess positive self-talk and think that it's wrong or egotistical to do because that's what society has taught us.

We dismiss those that have confidence because it makes us feel worse that we don't.

Self-love is hard and it takes a lot of practice.

Find the people or the person that helps you love yourself more.

We all could use a little extra love, why not start by giving it to ourselves.

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
