An Open (And Angry) Letter to Kimball

Cinnamon Toast Crunch was my lifeline and you took that away.

An Open (And Angry) Letter to Kimball

When coming back to school in the fall it is really hard to get used to Kimball food. Their options are either too bland, too greasy, or just not easy on the stomach. I feel kind of bad for the toilets on campus the first few weeks back because that food goes straight through. That is why I always took solace in my ride or die Kimball option: cereal. Whenever I was having a rough day of classes, Cinnamon Toast Crunch (or as my friend calls it CTC) would consistently be there for me.

If I hated all other menu options that day, I could just fill up on Cap'n Crunch. It was a staple in my diet because cereal will never bother my stomach. And also, it tastes friggin delicious.

As you can imagine, I was heartbroken when I returned to Holy Cross and realized that THEY REPLACED THE GOOD CEREAL WITH DISGUSTING KNOCK-OFFS.

Honestly, what is the point? Is it a cost saver? How expensive can name brand cereal actually be? Holy Cross raises the cost of the meal plan by $1,000 and takes away good cereal. Or maybe it is a ploy to inspire students to spend more money at the lobby shop because they can't live without dat good cereal #cerealgate.

Kimball, why did you do this to me? Out of all the things you could have cut corners on why make it a staple in every student's diet. I am such an unhappy camper. I will now gladly use your "suggestion box" to voice my disappointment in your terrible choice. I encourage everyone else who misses the taste you can see to do the same. Join me in the off brand cereal boycott. I have faith in us, let's rise together and #bringbackcereal2016.

Sincerely,

A Hangry Crusader.

O Cap'n, my cap'n I miss you so.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
