An Ode To Whataburger
Houston on the Cheap

Dear Whataburger,

I'm writing this to tell you how much I appreciate you. You have always been there for me. And even better, you've always been there for my friends and family. Literally 24/7. I remember the first time I had Whataburger like it was yesterday. I had heard rumors about you, but I had to see for myself. As I pulled up underneath that giant orange "W" sign, I knew I was about to experience something that would change my life.

What do I get when I'm on my way home from work? Whataburger. What do my friends and I want when we're hungry? Whataburger. What do we choose when it's 3 in the morning and we're leaving the bars? Whataburger. You're the solution to all our dietary needs. You've got juicy cheeseburgers, delicious chicken tenders, thick milkshakes, and the best damn fries a fast food establishment can have. And salads for the weirdos who choose to be "healthy."

Us Texans have a special place in our heart for you. You're everywhere in Texas, and for that, we thank you. We ridicule other states that don't appreciate you like you should be. I wasn't planning on leaving Texas in general, but now I know I could never leave you. I'm glad I don't have to know what it's like to live without you.

You surprise me with new menu items like the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Strip Sandwich and the Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich. You never disappoint me.

So thank you Whataburger for all that you provide for me. You there for me when I've had a bad day, and especially when I'm having a great day. More importantly, thank you to the Whataburger employees providing great service and dealing with all the drunk college kids when you'd rather be sleeping, you guys are the real MVP's.

With all my love,

Your biggest fan.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

It is no secret that many American traditions have changed over time. As we grow older we change in so many ways that it only makes sense that we also change the way we celebrate special occasions. Of course when it comes to the holidays there are some family traditions that many of us still excitedly look forward to, whether it is eating your favorite dish or seeing favorite cousin. However, we all know that the holidays have overall changed a little from what they used to be.
