An Ode To Sheetz

My heart sings to you.

Throughout college, there is one friend who has always been there for me. I don't have to dress up to see this friend. Usually, I'm drunk when I see them, but they don't seem to mind. I also make sure to see this friend before I leave my college town. Who could possibly be this wonderful friend? Sheetz, of course! Sheetz has saved my life on many occasions, whether it be an appetizer platter while I'm drunk or a MTO coffee while I'm studying for finals week. Since it is open twenty-four hours a day, it has become a beacon of hope for the college student. I think it's only right that I dedicate an entire song to it. While some may choose Taco Bell as their drunk food go-to, I am not usually done drinking before they close; therefore, Sheetz is the hero that college students deserve. Unfortunately, I don't have the skills to compose original music, so I looked to Drake to be my muse. Normally I would include a link to a YouTube video for you to listen to it if you haven't already. Upon further inspection I've found that he has a great team that removes copyrighted material. So... I suggest looking the song up on whatever music streaming service you use if you need a reference.

Sung to the tune "Right Hand" by Drake

(chorus)

You're my right hand,

You're my go-to.

You even got a drive-thru

That's a smart move.

I know that you're out here

Got college students lovin' you.

Just know that these kids just don't love you like I do.

And they never will.

(Verse 1)

Yeah I love your meal deal

I gotta come get a refill

And you know I can't wait,

Finals week got me up late

I got a lot on my plate

That's why I gotta order now

Study break for myself

I don't share with nobody else

I'm like, oh well

I'm like screw it, oh well

My diet behind me like a ponytail

(Repeat chorus)

Okay, I know I want the coffee

I know you wanna get the blondie

Me and all my girlfriends

The ones I always have around me

Cause trust me they the best, man

Can I get food for ya?

Buy the snacks you can't afford for ya,

Cause this week's been a lot for ya.

I just pay for it

And now your stress is behind you

Got your paper in last minute

Thank God that's finished

Cause now it's back to business

Any more fries and I'm past the limit

Told you bout the swishers

Now I gotta get it

I would never pick anywhere else

(Chorus)

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
