Our skin comes in different colors, shades, tones, etc. Some people out there can spend only five minutes in the sun and already develop a base tan under them while for some, such as myself take many, many hours and trials in the sunlight to even attempt a light golden color before getting burnt to the core. Yes, it is a pale girls wish that her skin will not freckle or turn red but turn tan all over. The process although is difficult when you walk out like a beacon in your swimsuit and reflect light while laying down trying to get some color on the canvas that is lilly white skin. Palm girls have fair, sensitive skin that can easily come from Irish, English or Scottish descent or it's just from genetics. The summer time is the best way to grow a natural, beautiful tan that may have lines but will be worth it in the end. But on a sweltering hot ninety degree day, a good chunk of the population would much rather be sitting indoors with your air conditioning on full blast to stay cool. Sometimes it's just too darn hot for anything and who knows, knowing you absolutely fry in the heat when the option of a tanning bed is presented to you, you just swelter at the thought of it knowing you'll come out looking like a dancing lobster and it has an even higher risk for skin cancer.
Spray tans to you unless done right look like an orange blotchy mess on most people who have them, you want it to last and not fade having to spend more money to get your color in again. You face the problem of being too fair skinned for makeup looks, outfits and being the outcast in a group of perfectly tanned friends who say they love how soft your skin is. Your dermatologist just loves you because you are not giving your skin any sort of damage to them with the ongoing paleness during every visit too! Pale Girl pride needs to be shown more since we can't help the lack of pigment in our skin. I love being outside, I love to swim and wear shorts and dresses showing off my legs and arms, and yes it is difficult to find a foundation to match my skin tone, if not making me look even more washed out than I am. What matters most is not to change because of what others say, there's plenty of beautiful and pale people and you are one of them, rock that white bikini and wear that peach dress! Maybe while you do you may get a stroke of luck with a slight tan, but if not just remember that being tan is not a race, there is no winner to being tan and no loser to be little to not tan.
