To The Best Friend I Didn't Expect To Have --
A little over a year ago I moved to Orlando, Florida to work at the magical world of Walt Disney World; where dreams come true.
A place where dreams, magic, and your imagination are the best 3 things you could bring with you.
I expected to meet lots of friends of course but I never expected to have such a great and deep love for a Disney Character, who I visited quite often and she would lift my spirits when I needed it.
That character is Minnie Mouse.
I worked along side Minnie Mouse for about every other day for almost an entire year. I got to watch her make magic for not only little princesses and princes but adults of ALL ages as well.
I've seen grown adults cry because they have waited their entire life to meet Minnie Mouse, and I've seen kids eyes light up and have seen their dreams come true.
I've seen kids who chose their dying wish to come to Disney and to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and those days are always the hardest, but they are the most fulfilling in the entire world. My very first guest that I ever encountered was a Make A Wish little girl, and she was so excited to meet all the Disney Characters that you could hear her walking away and talking to her mom about how fun that was and how it was the best day ever. Those are the moments you get when you get to spend your days working with our Magical Characters.
Minnie Mouse had an act of just making everything okay, something I've never seen with any other character. She's very nurturing and loving but can also be just as fabulous and sassy as her BFF Daisy. She loves bows, dresses, and shoes and will be the first to compliment you if you're wearing anything that she likes and I'm sure you are.
I've gone into work before and just wanted to flat out cry, there are such hard days and when they hit you they usually hit pretty hard. But when I would go into work and see that child run up to screaming Mickey's or Donald's or Goofy's or any characters name and just about knock them down from excitement that's when you realize that your own problems don't matter and that you're there to make magic for this guest. And make it easier for our characters to make their magic. Those are the days where I would come home and cry or cry on my way home because of how grateful I was to have the job that I do that I can see the magic every day and that magic can turn my bad day around.
Of course there are hard days on the job, and there are days that it's hot, and the guests don't want to wait in line, or guests are being rude to you, but most of the time you have that one guest that can turn your whole day around and than the cycle starts all over again.
The kids and the adults and the magic makes it all feel like you're not actually going to work every day- it feels like going home.
I just wanted to formally thank Minnie Mouse.
Thank you, Minnie, for giving me a hug whenever I needed it.
Thank you for complimenting my shoes.
Thank you for drying my tears when sometimes it's just too hard to bear.
Thank you for sending kids over my way so that I could get a warm hug as well.
Thank you for doing the hot dog dance with me.
Thank you for always twirling and spinning.
Thank you for always holding my hand.
Thank you for always being courteous to our guests even when they aren't to you.
Thank you for always being so gentle and kind.
But thank the lord for always being sassy when the time is right.
Thank you for always remembering to wear Pink on Wednesdays.
And thank goodness you always remember who you can and can not sit with.
Thank you for opening up doors to so many friendships that I hold so close in my heart.
Thank you for the magic.
Thank you for reminding me that I along with many others can fill the world with sunshine.
Thank you for making it so incredibly hard to leave you, I didn't want to let you go and I couldn't stop crying.
Thank you for all the wishes, dreams, and magic.
Thank you for all the little princesses and princes that you made their day better.
Also, a thank you to the adults that you made their day as well.
And a thank you that I got to sit back and watch the magic all happen.
I got to witness magic every single day for a whole year and it changed my life.
I owe it all to Minnie Mouse and the rest of her buddies.
I miss you guys every single day.

And I only hope Walt Disney, that I can one day get back to the most magical and "home filled" job I ever had.
