An Ode In 3 Parts To Frozen Dinners

Frozen dinners really warm my heart.

As a college student, I'm pretty busy. Or at least I am around meal times. I do homework during lunch and dinner with some music, or I eat when I'm reading my textbook. I have classes some days that are less than two hours apart: just enough time to think you can get something done and not enough time to actually get something done. Soup is nice and quick, but I need something different now and again.

Frozen Dinners, here to save the day!

You know what frozen dinners are. The name is pretty self-explanatory. What's not self-explanatory is why I like them so much.

So I'll do that.

1. Flavor

Frozen dinners have the ability to mimic elaborate dishes. The frozen versions of pasta and noodle dishes are especially good at this. They are deceptively flavorful for something wrapped in plastic and stuffed in a box in the freezer.

2. Proximity

Frozen dinners are a staple of my diet in college and a staple of the food stores close to campus. They're easy to get to, which always helps.

3. Preparation

Like I said, warming up the meals is easy. Even I can do it. And the instructions are printed on the box, just in case I forget. One less thing I have to worry about in my busy daily schedule.

College is stressful. Food shouldn't be.

Frozen dinners: found in the freezer aisle of supermarkets everywhere. It warms my heart.

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
