An Open Letter To My Parents

To My Parents,

I'm off at college once again, so I wanted to write you a letter to show you my love and appreciation for you.

I know I can be highly annoying (so can you), but I only do it because I just love you so much! But really, I am so beyond thankful for both of you.

You gave me life and a wonderful one at that. I'm so blessed to be able to be in college and have the things I have. I realize that not everyone can say that.

So I want to thank you.

Thank you for being there for me when I truly needed you. I will never forget you being my rock through tough times.

Thank you for loving me unconditionally.

For supporting every decision I've made and will make.

Thank you for letting me go by a nickname over the one you gave me at birth. (Thanks for birthing me!)

Thank you for giving me an amazing big brother.

Thank you for raising us right.

And for introducing us to soccer. For funding my Starbucks addiction. For driving me around to play Pokémon Go.

Thank you for leading and sheltering me through this crazy thing called life. It's hard sometimes, but you somehow make it easier.

Thank you for reassuring me when I was lost.

For my car and pets and piercings and letting me dye my hair all the time.

Thank you for giving me an iPhone even when you work for Microsoft! I know it was painful for you to buy Apple products.

For letting me believe in what I want to believe in, support what I think is right, and have views different than you. Also, thanks for not judging when my views and beliefs are different than yours. Thanks for being so accepting.

Thank you for helping me move in every place I move in to (even if you break some of my kitchen supplies in the middle of the road).

Most of all, thank you for dealing with me because I know I can be tough to handle sometimes.

I know it seems like I'm so eager to be away at college or to hang out with my friends, but remember, I miss you more than you'll ever know. Take that while you can, because I never say these things in person!

I wouldn't trade you for anyone else and I love the life you've given me. I'm so thankful for everything!

I love you more than words can express,

Your daughter

Christmas Tree

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
