I Promise To Love You

To The Absolute Love Of My Life,

There are so many things that I want to say to you - even though you are just a simple thought in my young, dreaming mind. I am only a sophomore in college, far from accomplishing all that I desire to. But, in a couple of years, I'll be taking the bar exam in law school. From there, I'm going to sign a contract with a successful firm that will offer good benefits and a satisfying salary.

After all is sorted with my career, I can only hope that I will have already met your father and he and I would be married and working on fixing an old, beat up house together... to build up our little team that we'll call our family. We - as a family - will argue, we will cry, we will laugh, we will live. Above all, please always keep in mind the following:

I Love You.

I Love You.

I Love You.

Some day, you're going to take your first few breaths while I finally get to hold you. You're gonna open your eyes and I'm gonna show you the world. Shortly after, you will speak your first few words and I'll get too excited because the words you'll say are probably going to just be little mumbles. But you'll be talking to me! "Mmeh" turns to "Mma" which will finally be "Mama." (Daddy can relax, "Dada" will come soon enough.) You will later take your first steps. All of the sudden, you'll be in pre-school. You're going to grow too fast. But it'll be okay. I'll grow with you.

I want you to know that I'm going to be here forever. You're going to do some stupid things, but it's okay. It will always be okay and I will always want you. You are my world.

Please realize that you are lovely. Darling, you are everything. You'll always be the sunrise after the rain. Boys are dumb, but they can be so wonderful. School is hard, but it's so worth it. Girls can be really mean, but you will have some incredible friends. I am only 19 at this moment, but I can tell you that everything gets better and we all grow stronger and wiser. (I'm going to be right, most of the time.)

Life is for feeling electricity. Life's for loving and laughing. But life is also filled with heartache, pain, and stress. I'm telling you now and I will keep telling you that you will heal, with time. Some say time is a thief, stealing our moments with the ones we love away from us. But time is so constant. Controlling time isn't an option. So let me show you how to do your hair and let me show you how to match your socks. Let me take care of you, because I always will.

And someday, once I learn how to myself, I will also teach you how to do your laundry.

You are EVERYTHING I've ever wanted.

I promise to always listen to you

I promise to always forgive you

I promise to always accept you

I promise to always answer your questions

I promise to always try to help you

I promise to always hold you

I promise to always dry your tears

I promise to always try to make you laugh

I promise to always love you

Oh! and I promise to name you something simple and pretty. I'll cross anything exotic and foreign off my short list.

I cannot wait to meet you.

Love, Mommy

P.S. I'm super weird so I'll most likely embarrass you more than I intend to.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
