I’ll be real, relationships can be difficult. Whether its friends, family, or even a significant other, interactions with other humans can just be hard sometimes. Conflicts are bound to happen.

I think a lot of times as women, we are scared rock the boat. We are scared to voice our concerns about a relationship for fear of coming across as high maintenance. We are nervous about addressing issues within a relationship for fear of the conversation going badly and ending up in a fight, or worse, ending up alone. We are scared to ask for what we want or need from a relationship because we fear the result.

We put ourselves in the passenger seat of the relationship, giving control to the other person, and hoping for the best.

I’ll be the first to admit I hate conflict. Like hate conflict. So a lot of times, I end up in situations where I know I am being disrespected, but I am too scared to say anything about it.

Maybe you can relate to that. Maybe there’s a situation in your life that has been bothering you, but you’re nervous to bring it up because you think you’re asking too much.

I’m about to brew up a hot, steaming cup of honesty because guess what?

You’re not asking for too much.

Relationships are a two-way street. It should serve both people involved, not just one. If there is something that needs to be discussed, discuss it, without fear of the outcome.

Don’t be afraid to ask for what you need out of a relationship, whether it’s defining the relationship, setting boundaries, or talking through something that hurt your feelings.

If they are the right person for you, whatever is important to you will be important to them too. The right person will take your thoughts, feelings, and concerns seriously because you matter.

You’re not asking for too much; you might just be asking the wrong person.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
