Marine City, Michigan was the best place to grow up, it will always be where I call home. This little town has its unique characteristics. I know my fellow Mariners will understand the following

1. Welcome to the city of antique shops, Marine City, MI.


2. You grew up going to the Riviera, Gar's and Anita's with family and friends.

3. You went to one of the smallest schools in the state, Marine City High School, home of the Mariners.

4. The rivalry between the Mariners and the Saints is very intense. We are one district with two district high schools.

5. When you say "I'm from Marine City,MI." you prepare yourself for the comments or questions that follow.

6. Chances are you teacher had your parents in class.

7. The replica of the Titanic is at the Mariner.

8. Halloween has been moved to November 1st because it conflicted with a football game.

9.Canada can be seen across the St.Clair River.

10. The Edison Park is the most popular place to swim.

11.Secrets spread fast because everybody knows everyone or related.

12.Graduation is held in a gymnasium.

13. Marine City is comprised of a small town and large country living.

14. We have only 3 stop lights.

15. When our football team made it to the state playoffs in 2007 and 2013, the entire town shut down.

16. We have only two live theaters.

17. Small community, big hearts.

When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.

I am without a doubt one of those people who refuses to start decorating for Christmas or listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving.
