If you are from Anderson, or you know of Anderson, you're probably thinking what? Anderson is so boring. Well, coming from someone who moved here a few years ago, Anderson is a pretty interesting place! Here are eleven hidden gems of Anderson and why you should check them out!

1. eCity Java

Although this local coffee shop isn't that much of a town secret, it is still a gem. I suggest ordering a 'Dirty Hippie' aka the best chai latte I've ever had! Also, Anderson University students get a discount -you're welcome.

2. L Taco Mexican Restaurant

Looking for a new place to celebrate Taco Tuesday? Look no further! L Taco is a new, locally owned restaurant. My mom and I knew this would be our new favorite before even trying the food! The atmosphere is cool, vibrant, and friendly.

3. Canela's Fresh Smoothies & Juices

Forget going all the way to Greenville! Canela's is the place to go for your juice and smoothie cravings! Fresh. Natural. Deliciously healthy!

4. Darwin Wright Park

Bring a picnic lunch and a friend to the park, and you've got yourself a great afternoon!

5. Downtown

Twinkly lights, great restaurants, and colorful walls for Insta pics?! What more could you want? Try any of the restaurants downtown and you will most definitely not be disappointed!

6. JC's Restaurant

Bird dogs. Need I say more? Definitely an Anderson must try!

7. Cater Lake

ENO hammocks are all the craze now. Take yours out to Crater Lake park and enjoy the view. Feed the ducks while you're there, too. It is also a great spot because it is right next to Anderson University campus!

8. European Market Anderson, SC

This new store is filled with a variety of options! I enjoy buying the different candies there.

9. Sephora in JC Penney

Some of my most makeup oriented friends didn't even know that there was a Sephora in the mall! This is a hidden gem for sure!

10. Parking Garage Downtown

In my opinion, this is one of the best places to watch the sunset in town. I mean, look at that cotton candy sky!

Whether you are an Anderson native, or transplant like myself, there is always more than meets the eye when it comes to this town. Who knows, your hometown probably has its own hidden gems too. Get out and explore your city!

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
